Description Comparison of the hornless horned gopher Trilaccogaulus montanensis and the (presumedly) limbless hedgehog, Proterix loomisi, from the Oligocene of Midwestern United States.

Contrary to the common name, only the horned gophers of the genus Ceratogaulus had horns: all others, such as the species of the primitive genus Trilaccogaulus, were hornless.

Proterix is presumed by some researchers to be limbless because all of the specimens found had no associated limb- or pelvis-elements.

Akin to the headshield you'd see in critters like the fairy armadillo.

What about Mylogaulus? I have seen specimens of that with horns.
"hornless horned gopher" the origonal oxymoron, lol.

I thought Mylogaulus was synonymized with Ceratogaulus
