Because I am 1000000% in love with everything. Yes, I've been freaking out about this since yesterday afternoon, but I was far too busy to doodle out my feelings. Luckily, I had the time to day.
Unfortunately there's been quite a few complaints I've seen crop up. So, as a polite reminder to the haters/complainers:
1. We were warned they would be aged by about 5 years a LONG time ago so we had ample time to mentally prepare ourselves.
2. Astrid and Hiccup both look fabulous. Astrid isn't too 'girly' (which I defend here and here ) and… well I can't see anyone complaining about Hiccup.
3. The leaked posters are (from what I hear) early concepts - the animation style obviously wouldn't be official. Of course they will be more detailed.

Yea I think Astrid took some charataristics from her Nadder or vice versa, they look great but are still just as tough as anyone twice their size.

I must admit that I quite love Hiccups new look. They pulled it off very neatly..
Though I can't get rid of the feeling that he's morphing into Jim Sturgness.

First off, these drawings are awesome. Secondly, I didn't even realise there were leaked images 'til I saw this so I had to go look for them. Hiccup looks like a badass. Astrid looks really relaxed. Thirdly, as awesome as those images are, the movie will look even better.
Stupid 2014 release date. I'm not sure I can wait that long.

Pffft, REALLY? Haha, see, ever since I got tumbler (where the youths get really rowdy) I get up-to-date crap all the time. So I was informed almost immediately… but also you get all this whiney teen angst over there too. So I just take the fun new information and shy away from their complaining. I'm SUPER excited!
And also not looking forward to the wait either.

The more I see of Hiccup's flying suit, the more I like it. I also think it is entirely acceptable for a late teen (especially in a society like the Vikings, where you have to grow up very quickly) to be flirty when she's around her boyfriend. Yeah, and she will have been realising that the time is getting closer for her to carry out a grown woman's role in the tribe. That would be affecting her behaviour and thinking too.

Me too! I can't believe people are actually confused or put off by his 'squirrel suit'. I mean… it just feels like the natural progression to me. It's not even nerdy, it's ingenious! He's really the 'Tony Stark of his era!
And yes to Astrid. There's nothing OOC about her design or attitude (aside from the small part in the movie). I'm looking forward to it all!

Oh god no!! There were some leaked posters (that I'm sure can still be found on google). They aren't quite official and are still considered 'early production', but they gave us some insight on the future designs.

Love em! I actually like the twiddling with the braid you have Astrid doing, and the gentle lighting on that one too. I love all the braids, even Astrid's! I'm REALLY curious about the Hiccstrid that's going to happen in the sequel. There's going to be some real kissing probably.

I'm a little curious about the 'Hicstrid' myself! I know they'll still focus on the friendship/bromance/family aspect in the sequel, but they'll had a little sweetener, I'm sure

Agreed. "Honey and the Hatchet" are absolutely perfect for Hiccup and Astrid. The only other pet name Hiccup has for her at the moment is "m'lady." And yes, Hiccstrid isn't the focus of the franchise (which is awesome) so it'd be great to see what they do put in, as it probably would be significant. Those two are totally getting married in one of the movies, not only because that's the next step in their relationship, but did you hear that song which Cartoon Network played for some ROB promos? One of the lines was about Hiccup and Astrid asking cornily "if they'll get married." It's like telling its kid audience to get ready for it!

Pur-lease - HIccup had way more confidence than people give him credit for, especially in matters he knew he was good at. But I've already overanalyzed that to death on tumblr
Plus, this Hiccup isn't so much different from the other one!

If you look at the HTTYD1 posters, HIccup still has confidence in his face. I don't think we'll lose any of that with him in action.

Once again, I find it amazing that you can draw an entire series of pictures just one day after seeing those images, whereas it would take me weeks just to do a single rendering, and it still wouldn't turn out half as good!
Steam-punk Hiccup is awesome! I'm glad that still gave him a lanky, somewhat awkward figure and made his nose a bit too big for his face, rather than trying to "twilight" him (shudders at the thought).
It's nice to see Astrid's face without the hair in the way.
