Description
Name: Jessica “Jess” Wolfgang
Born: September 5, 1999; Indianapolis, Indiana
Allegiance: Assassins
Bio: Jess was the product of a one-night stand between her mother, the Hoosier Templar Grand Master Natasha Wolfgang, and some random man that was probably killed by the Templars sometime after. Jess was taught in the Templar ways from the very start. Well… ‘taught’ is too generous a word. More it was beaten and forced down her throat since day one. She had no friends growing up, and was never allowed to seek out any either. Every moment of her life was about learning to kill Assassins and serve the Order without question. She was raised to become the perfect soldier, her freewill beaten and scared out of her and replaced with obedience. Her mother, being the terrible excuse of a human being she was, was the main player in her daughter's oppression. Never giving her love, never caring about what she may want, only ever sculpting her to suit her needs.
By the time she was 13, Jess was already a skilled Huntress, specializing in slaughtering Assassins. While she mostly operated in Indianapolis, she was often sent out to other areas to deal in Templar affairs. For example, she was often sent up north to South Bend to fight the Assassins there, and in 2012 she was sent to Rome to prevent a group of Assassins from rescuing Desmond Miles from Warren Vidic’s lab. Later that year, she was sent to New York City to confront one of her oldest rivals, a Hoosier Assassin by the name of Chelsea. Chelsea was always Jess’s biggest target, always escaping her attacks and always working to undo Templar plots. However, during the New York confrontation, Chelsea drove a blade into Jess, seemingly killing her. With the satisfaction of knowing her oldest demon gone from the world, Chelsea walked away and returned to Indianapolis, where she'd later recruit her cousin Carter into the Brotherhood and begin taking back the city from the Templars.
However, Jess did survive this encounter, and was later recovered by a Templar team that came to pick up Daniel Cross, who was also in the area. She was carted to Rome for a short while for initial medical care (also for a bit of Animus experimentation) and then was shipped to a Templar hospital in South Bend for final treatment and rebriefing for her new missions. She never got the chance to return to Indianapolis until a few years later, in 2015. She returned to find that her mother and most of the major Templars in Indy were gone, taken out by Chelsea and Carter. The Assassins had taken over the city, liberating it from tyranny. Now without any commanding officers or orders to follow, Jess was on her own for once. And the immediate instinct that had been literally beaten into her all her life told her to seek revenge, and so that's what she set out to do. She first confronted Carter in December 2015, though the fight ended in her getting knocked out and her prey escaping.
As time went on, Carter realized during his many encounters with Jess that it was not of her own volition, and that deep down she wanted no part in the Order that had abused her her whole life. He continuously tried to break through her mental wall of fear and oppression, but never could. Things weren't so good on the other side of the spectrum either. Carter's friend Jacob, after helping Carter and friends claim a Staff of Eden from the Templars, was slowly being corrupted by the artifact’s power. By spring 2016, he had lost his mind and stolen the Staff for himself, using it on their already mentally fragile friend Ava and making her Bleeding Effect trauma ten times worse. Jacob fled after the ensuing fight, and the next few weeks were spent on a hopeless moping around the hideout. Eventually Carter got the emotional boost he needed from his friends at school to return to the Animus and find the Key to a Precursor Temple they were searching for. He located the Key, but there was still one final obstacle before he could go claim it: Jacob had made his way to the top of the Chase Tower in downtown Indy and was using its power to try and annihilate the city. Realizing he had no choice but to fight his best friend before any innocent lives were hurt, Carter rushed downtown as fast as possible. He was stopped along the way by a broken Jess, whom he fought and defeated and offered one last chance to change herself and help the Assassins win this fight. Jess finally gave in and accepted her true self, and helped her new friends defeat Jacob and save the city.
Jess, Carter, and Chelsea then went to recover the Temple Key, and just as they did, they got a phone call from their friend Ben panicking and saying that Ava had gone into a coma from how bad her Bleeding Effect trauma was. The gang rushed back to the hideout, and discovered that it was true. Once again, the place was filled with a depressingly quiet atmosphere as they all monitored Ava and hoped she'd wake up. Carter, while taking a walk downtown, started having Bleeding Effect episodes of his own, triggered by his severe depression episodes. He faded in and out of the Civil War, and the flashes only stopped when Jess came along and gave him his lost hope back. Ava would awaken 3 weeks later, explaining that she had gone on a soul-searching journey in the Animus while in he coma, and that now she knows what they need to do, and she eagerly told them they still have a mission to complete.
