She is so right. Maybe I liked it when the hype was all big, and it seemed like the next cool thing. No that I've looked into it deeply, I realise that it is such a wrong image of love, and so many other things. I mean, Edward is obviously gay, and he is using Bella to cover it up, while Bella actually loves Alice. That's what I think anyway.

Yeah, I mean Harry Potter taught some pretty good morals and ideas. And was packed full of powerful and good female characters. Twilight is what it is, a trashy romance novel aimed at teens. It just scares me beyond belief that so many young women are looking at Edward as the model of the perfect guy. I admit, I do read some trashy literature and there is nothing wrong with liking it, but really I have second thoughts every time I see a young girl reading the book and knowing she thinks how dreamy Edward is.

I just don't understand what HP fans has against twilight..
It's not trying to take Hp out of the spotlight or anything!

I don't dislike Twlilight because it's "trying to take HP out of the spotlight", I dislike it because of the twisted sort of logic and moral it contains, and the fact that this kind of stuff is represented to teenagers and chidren as something good is really unfortunate. Seriously, if it was any other book I think I would have been compleatly OK with it because I don't think the moral themes can get any worse than it does in Twilight.
I hope I'm not so thick that I base my liking towards people on wether or not they love or hate Twilight.

EXACTLY! It's just incredibly anti-feminist. I mean, lets compare heroines her. Hermione is more powerful and smarter than her male counterparts, and she's the one that usually gets them out of danger with her intelligence. Bella is always getting INTO trouble and depending on the thousands of guys that are in love with her to save her. Hermione tells little girls that to be cool and be loved, they don't have to be gorgeous, just try hard and be themselves unapologetically, and especially not to rely on guys to save you or make you happy. Bella tells little girls that to depend on a guy (or two or five) is good, and not to be an independent person or a strong woman. Which would I want MY daughter reading?
