Description
PART 10EXT. MAIDEN’S CABIN
(Scuttle flies into the bride’s cabin & grabs the mirror off the vanity. It’s heavy & he has difficulty maneuvering with it. He exits the cabin, carrying the mirror.)
EXT. UPPER DECK
(Scuttle emerges to the upper deck, clinging to the mirror. He starts toward Vanessa, but just as he’s about to get the mirror into position, he SLAMS into a beam & drops the mirror. It SMASHES to the floor! Relieved, Vanessa smiles and embraces Eric, but then, Max, who had broken off his leash, runs to them. Angry and never trusting her from the start, he takes a BITE in Vanessa’s butt! She SHRIEKS in pain as she falls to the floor. As Max runs and barks around Eric, the prince starts to help his fiancé, but just as he looks down toward the floor, his eyes WIDEN.)
VANESSA: (O.S.) Eric, what’s wrong?
(The invasion of the sea creatures has caused the floor of the deck to be covered in water. As Vanessa gets up herself, Eric can see the reflection of Vanessa in the water, only it’s NOT her; it’s…)
ERIC: The Sea Witch!
VANESSA: (in shock and offended) What?!
(The shock breaks the effect of Ursula’s spell & Eric draws away from her in horror. Vanessa discovers her true identity reflecting in the puddles, horrified and irritated that her latest plan has been foiled. Before she can explain herself, Grimsby suddenly points toward the opposite side of the boat.)
GRIMSBY: (shouting) Look!

Does Prince Eric believe in magic, though? Would he really trust his own eyes? Maybe he'd think he had too much to drink at the bachelor party.

I wouldn't buy your bachelor story, 'cause... what bachelor party? It was announced and set up all in one day.

An excellent new panel. I think one of the first things that stands out is the relatively zoomed out view of the ship and background, I like what it does for the scaling in the foreground.
As for the details, one of the nice things about the live-action approach is that here we can see more of the lingering after effects of the attack on Vanessa than just the messy hair/wet dress. She's still wet and messy of course, but the remaining seaweed, frosting, starfish etc. not only create nice continuity, but remind us of how intense what we've just seen is. The water stains around the bottom of the skirt may be my favorite detail in that regard, obviously I enjoy the trashed appearance across the board. Your interpolations into the script continue to be a nice touch and I particularly like the inclusion and call out to Max here, it's a nice touch. Also Scuttle's sort of mischievous pleasure. I also like the subtle contrast between Vanessa's expression and Ursula's, Ursula (perhaps because she's not human in appearance) being simply startled, whereas Vanessa retains a trace of embarrassment or vulnerability. And, from the point of the view of the final film, it is simply interesting to see her with the necklace intact at this point in the wedding. It's a good look at Eric in his wedding suit as well, and you get the necessary nuances across, although it's sort of distasteful that in this version of the story his reaction is more along the lines of, "Woah, she's not as beautiful as I thought!"
It's a briefer collection of thoughts to be sure, but I do like the full body image of Vanessa at a moment when she's still the center of attention, still the beautiful mystery maiden, still the bedraggled bride at a more static moment when we can sort of put together the effects of the wedding on her more minutely.

The only reason I did that was to, A: give a bigger view than just a tight close-up, since it has to have 3 characters crammed at once. And B: to include 2 of the cameos (plus 1 free) from the original .
I’ve already discussed my reasons for the “lingering effects” in the last entry, so again, thanks. I thought adding Max seemed good. I don’t know if Max existed by the time of the original draft, but if he did, having him not get his own revenge seemed sad (especially for dog lovers). I wouldn’t really call Vanessa’s expression “embarrassment or vulnerability”, I was really just recreating THIS face of Aubrey Plaza’s . Also, both her’s and Ursula’s expressions I made to be the same. Maybe it’s because Ursula’s upside down, she’ll look a bit different than she would right-side up.
As for Eric’s suit, it was tricky not making it a direct copy of the B’way costume or Once Upon a Time’s interpretation. And I wasn’t trying for that to be distasteful, just more of “the sailor’s stories were TRUE!”, but adding that would be too much dialogue. He doesn’t really get to react at the reveal (script or final movie) and I thought that’d be something of a callback of Scuttle discovering the disguise.
