Description
Somewhat of an accidental tattoo design, this was originally created as a tribute to my favourite owl villains in the book series Guardians of Ga'Hoole by Kathryn Lasky.Failed at symmetry; sorry, not sorry.
Sketched up on A4 printer paper with a blue pencil before going over the sketch with a mechanical graphite pencil and tracing it onto bleedproof paper.
Copic markers, fine liner, and colour pencils were used to create the final piece.

Thank you! Yes, it does, I love it. It's the best paper I've used for copics so far, however it is quite thin and anything you draw on one side shows very easily on the other.

They're a pleasant read, I loved the series from when I discovered them at 11 till when I finally finished the series at 15. I mean, I still adore it, but in a more reminiscent and sentimental sort of way.

Cool! Β How do they relate in terms of the movie? Β I know sometimes movies based on books can be way off.

It's not as bad as some, but there's definitely room for improvement. In my opinion, Snyder screwed up by rushing the plot and combining the first three books into one movie - a lot of it is missed, some small yet vital characters aren't included, and they (being the character artists) completely changed the species that Otulissa and Strix Struma are supposed to be. They're spotted owls, but have been made short eared owls merely for cosmetic despite the fact that it defeats the purpose of their names and life history and personalities. Another thing: Metal Beak did not exist before Kludd joined the Pure Ones, and Sooty Owls were by no means EVER made a high rank - they were the lowest of the low, the omegas. Oh, and the way they designed Nyra? She pretty much looks male, in terms of barn owl dimorphism. There's a lot more that has been changed as well, for instance the addition of Allomere who does not exist in the books, but they would probably spoil the series so I won't continue any further.Β
