Description Spoilers for Star Wars; The Clone Wars 5x20

In the late war, an explosion in the Jedi temple led to the death of several Jedi, temple workers and Republic personnel. A culprit was found, but when Ahsoka Tano went to her cell on the culprit's request, the latter suddenly died, with Ahsoka seeming to be responsible. Ahsoka broke free and went on the run into the Coruscant underworld, looking for answers. Hunted by her master, Anakin Skywalker, and her old mentor, Plo Koon, Ahsoka only had one contact left in the temple she could trust, her friend Bariss Offee, who helped her chase down a lead. However, she was attacked by a mysterious figure at the place she was sent to, and was then captured by the Republic with the figure having vanished. The fact that a Jedi had seemingly been responsible for Republican deaths posed a difficult situation for the order, to whom faith had been waning from the Republic's citizens. They were then forced to speedily expulse Ahsoka from the order at the behest of the Republic, so she could have a secular trial.

Charged before the Senate with treason, under penalty of death, the trial commenced with the defendant's friend Senator Amidala standing for the defence, and Republic Agent Wilhuff Tarkin as prosecution. The trial did not go in her favour, and the only hope she had left was that Anakin did not believe the events as the Republic charged them, and chased down his own leads. They led him to Bariss, who attempted to flee the scene but was ultimately overpowered by the furious Skywalker. With a guilty verdict about to be passed, Anakin brought the true culprit before the court, her betrayal to the Jedi, the Republic and to her friend clear to see.
