Description
You know what really grind my gears? When the hero is like "we gotta overcharg this electric elemental with electricity, it'll explode just like a battery!"
A battery stores energy, an electric elemental (from my understanding) absorbs electricty like a sponge. Anything that doesn't fit in it just cascades through it like water on a sponge. Sponges don't explode when you fill it with too much water!
It just bugs me a lot...

man that would be kinda cool if sponges did explode though

It would be kind of scary but I know what you mean~

It really depends on how much amps are sent to a battery.
To many amps = battery goes boom!
Not a lot of amps = nothing unless you overcharge itΒ

My point still stands, electric elementals are not batteries
But I get what you're saying

In a way they are, they store electricity to a certain point, and they can loose electricity up to a certain point. If you want that electricgirl to explode just make a short to ground.

A short? I get what you mean, like stick a metal rod through her and to the ground, but how would that blow her up?

When the rod is ran through her to ground electrons will go ape-shit to ground--creating a lot of heat and powerful sparks causing her to go boom!

I don't know, sounds she'll get sucked I to the ground. But I don't know much about amps and electrons to confirm that

Is she made out of electricity? If so yeah, she'll be sucked into the ground, but if she's not I'll imagine her like a car battery which is explosive around jackasses.

She's entirely electric, which is my point. An electric elemental has no physical body to destroy. So that's why I find it annoying when writers make them explode.

Hmm, well, if she has no physical body she wouldn't be able to exist because electrons are constantly trying to find ground with nothing physical to store it it'll go to ground.Β

With magic~
Seriously though, you got a point. Which is why we don't see Electro or other elementals flying around. No physical body to hold it all together

That must be a lot of magic, 'cause those electrons are constantly trying to find ground. Any electric elements can fly, well they can if they're a load that can change it's purpose (like discharging electricity to creating magnetic fields).

Hmm...so infinite growth? Or increased tightness and density?

Increase density, like a sponge she'll get full and stop growing, the rest of the electricity flowing through her and out another way
