I KNOW! I don't get why they even did what they did with EIP. If they had done something along the lines of this... then it would have made more sense when they finally kissed after the war in ba sing se.
and it wouldn't have been so confusing when Katara went with Zuko, b/c we would've known she'd already chosen Aang and had confessed her love to him.
