Description
Well I like to see how others work because it gives me ideas about how to work. Sometimes I'll try out their way of working or part of it to see if I like it. I also find it re-assuring to find other artists who work as sketchily as I do.So here you go, the sketchy version of my latest piece -partly transparent over the top of the final piece, just so you can easily compare the two.
If you notice a spiral (which I'll be impressed if you do because I partly rubbed it out with a normal traditional rubber (eraser)), you are not hallucinating I drew a vague golden ratio/spiral onto the blank sheet of paper to help me think about placement. It's a technique that a watercolourist I know uses before he starts his work.
I don't follow it exactly as you can probably tell by the fact that I moved the mountain top mainly because the colour got too dark.
I also added in some more vegetation to the front because I needed to put something in that empty space. I did consider putting in a few more barrels at first but disgarded the idea.
Most of the squirrels are where I originally planned them but a few extra ones have appeared which I hope gave a bit more sence of distance.
I haven't got much else to say except my favourite part is the squirrel climbing down the tree and the basket of apples
The Part I think could do with some work is the bushy part of the tree, something about the way it curves round doesn't look exactly natural but I may update it.
