Decided to give lineless a go for the fun of it. At the same time, might as well digitalise one of the sketches in my Scraps that I am still proud of to this day. X'D
So yeah, have a Willowmena in colour along with a really huge colour palette list. :V I like how the colours look complicated, and yet her design is simple and colour scheme is pretty simple. It felt really interesting to just colour her without any lineart to aid me, aside from using the sketch as my base reference as the colours and minor shading are added.
Welp, one down, roughly 40 more reference sheets to go- //killed

I feel like that would be the reason why I like dragon characters, either that or it's just the fact that mythical reptile creatures where always so interesting to me. XD On of the two...or both! Ah okay, I only have 1 but that's mainly because I'm not the best at drawing designs.

Whoa, that's an interesting design to say the least.
I'll have to admit, drawing dragon characters are fun. One could go all out on designing them (though I'm not great with creating a character's outward appearance XD It's a miracle that I even got Volt finished).

Yeah, there's always the option to take any "dragon" that has appeared over the course of history, and... well, simply alter them to one's liking. It's basically similar to how we design for characters of other species, of course Dragons have more freedom, with it being a mythical creature that's mainly in our imaginations and what not. Volt's design is pretty draconic enough, if the tail and wings and those clawed feet weren't an indicator enough.

Oh why thank you. I've always wondered why I gave her clawed feet, but hey, it brings out that reptilian side of her.
Yeah, I remember reading old storybooks about all these dragons, and often they'd have illustrations to their designs. Some were scary, and others were well design for their species type (fire, water, lightning, etc). I guess it's like you said, their mythical creatures that are usually designed by our imagination of what a dragon should look like.

Yeah, I made sure that all three of my Dragon characters have clawed feet, as if the snouts and horns and tail and wings weren't enough, haha~ X'D
So many ways to make dragons even more interesting than their original depictions in fairy tales and stories, haha~ Now I wonder what made you design Volt as who she is now? c:

Oh, that was mainly because I didn't really like her original design. Volt used to be a yellow fox with blue hair and a jetpack. I looked at the design one day and told myself "I should make her a little more interesting...". Thus, I mixed her appearance with my childhood love for dragons XD It's an interesting way to bring a little originality to a character.

But but like any other species, it all comes down to what we've picked for them to wear. X'D I've seen a few dragons that don't have their claws exposed, or have horns for the matter, haha~
A jetpack. X"D Hadn't seen one of those things on a Sonic Fancharacter in a long, long time, haha~
You're not wrong about Volt's design being more original than her previous incarnation. XD I've not seen another character that would make me think of Volt in the slightest so far, so there's something, eh? ;D

Very nice! On one hand I would say with more practice you can achieve smoother lines, on the other hand the roughness of it kind of reminds me of the Sonic Battle style.

Yeah, I intend to work on achieving smoother lines with my mouse soon. X'D Smooth Stroke on GIMP makes every line so smooth that it's just such a brilliant feature~
And really? o .o That's interesting to hear about this style. I intended to keep it simple so viewers can easily grasp what colours are what. X'D

Yeah! GIMP is really good when you're using the mouse. XD I never figured out how to get smooth lines with my tablet unfortunately. Then again I my old one didn't have a lot of nice features so maybe that was it.

Haha, my GIMP's version at the moment is 2.8, and I don't recall seeing an option called "Smooth Stroke" until I went to 2.8. X'D I mean, using a tablet when drawing GIMP could possibly make the lines drawn smoother, but I don't really have the budget or space to have a tablet, so... :")
I mean, Willowmena possibly has more colour than what I'd normally give to my characters, but I'm quite surprised that it works pretty well for her. Come to think of it, I believe that the red of her goggles are actually a translucent shade of the red-pink on the outside of her wings as well as the outline of her tail. X'D
