Description
Acrylic over gesso over MDF board.60x50 centimeters / 23.6x19.6 inches - 1/2 inch thick.
January 2017.
Fifth part of the Perfect Sunset Forever Series started in Fall 2014.
This planet orbits a small and dim M-type star and always gives to it the same face, just the same way Moon does with Earth.
Because of this, there is a side with a perpetual day and other with an endless night. But there's a line of sunset/sunrise between them.
There the sun never sets nor rises, but stays still in the sky (Well, mostly. The inclination of the planet's axis gives it a small apparent motion) in a sunset that never stops being a sunset. Here the snow will stay pink and lovely until this star dies, 10 trillion years in the future.

That orange-red is my favorite color, and I've only ever seen it in nature. Absolutely mesmerized that you captured it on a canvas. Amazing

I was thinking of fading embers or a glowing hot nickel ball when I did this. They have a lovely warm and soft glow and it would be wonderful to see a star shining like that.Β

Would you believe those rocks are actually knee-high? This landscape it's actually just a collection of random rocks I photographed while walking on some seaside port back in October.Β
