Von: "I'm quite comfortable here, and I'd be even more comfortable ON LAND."

Bowser: "Ludwig, the water only reaches to my knees, and you reach up to my chest. Put those facts together."

Von: "I'm not taking any chances, Father. Now take me back home or I'm setting up camp on your cranium."

One of my headcannons for Von is that he can't swim, and is terrified of deep water. Like, "neck deep and above" kinds of deep. His siblings find it amusing to push him into a pool or in the ocean and watch him scream and flail about before realizing he can still stand. How Bowser managed to get him away from the shore we'll never know.
