And here we have the beginning of one of the sweetest love songs with today's Koopa: Ludwig!

Prideful and pompous as always, Ludwig originally thought very little about the odd purple Koopa that came stumbling into the castle one day. At first, he assumed the new face was a recently-hired minion, even tried to order him around as such, only to later learn he was one of the very, very few guests Bowser allowed. Ludwig did wonder why, but later disregarded it. As long as this... individual didn't make any messes or disturb anyone (particularly himself), Ludwig could care less. He had more important things to do.

Days passed with no changes to Ludwig's routine, though word about the purple Koopa he'd met began to spread around the castle. He had been seen spending time with the other Koopalings, others said he was tending to Bowser Jr., and there were even a few people swooning over him. Ludwig could only shake his head at that last one. Always getting crushes on the "New Guy," so to speak. Classic minions.

Though one topic did pique Ludwig's curiosity; when interacting with Koopas, and only with Koopas, the purple one seemed "out of place," as it were. He would ask questions that were borderline basic about Koopa culture, and few of them actually grew concerned. Was the purple guy living under a rock? Part of Ludwig didn't want to believe it. The most likely explanation (at least in Ludwig's book) was people reaching for reasons behind the guy's behavior. Really, a Koopa that knew nothing about being a Koopa? Preposterous.

Ludwig wouldn't get confirmation until Wendy spoke about him- er, "Dally," a few more days later. During her last outing, "Dally" had accompanied Wendy as her bodyguard (which was shocking in and of itself since Wendy didn't drive him off), and even she could tell that things were off. The entire experience felt more like her being a tour guide than him guarding her. Not that Wendy was complaining, considering how happy she was once she came home.

Curiouser and curiouser... Well, if this "Dally" fellow really is that uncultured, then this is a wrong that only Ludwig can right.

And so, the next time Dally (who he now knew was called "Dalex") visited the castle, Ludwig immediately dragged him off. Literally.

To his delight, Dalex was an eager pupil. As someone raised outside of Koopa society, he wanted to learn as much as he could. It nearly warmed Ludwig's heart, seeing someone ready to learn (and thankfully not going over the top like Iggy). Every other day he set some time aside to lecture Dalex in the castle's library, and Dalex would always show up. It was almost cute whenever Dalex raised his hand to ask a question~

Even the minions could tell that Dalex's "charm" had gotten to Ludwig, even if he refused to admit it himself. This became apparent after the Chain Chomp incident. It hurt, more than he thought it would, to see Dalex battered and bruised courtesy of two rogue Chomps. He scolded Dalex for acting like an imbecile, but could tell that Dalex didn't regret his actions (he did save Roy, apparently...).

Ludwig had been acting as Dalex's mentor, so he took it upon himself to treat Dalex's wounds, all while continuing to scold him. Dalex fell silent, gaze turned down towards the arm Ludwig held, wrapping a bandage around it with his magic. His now even-messier hair concealed almost half of his entire face, with only the glow of a purple eye shining through.

Shining... it's... somewhat pretty, actually.
