Description
You should know that I have a hobby : complicate things. As I ordered some digital prints of my Type Songs, and wondered if I could print them myself, I discovered linocut : engraving a piece of linoleum, then ink it to transfer the pattern on paper. Ok let's go.
Here's a trial with my work about Ray Charles, Type Song 15 (the digital poster here [link] ). I wanted to see if I could get thin details, like on these serif letters. Well, it takes time but it works.
The lino plate size is 15 x 30 cm.

Linocut FTW. Got some great detail in the letters, well done must have taken a lot of concentration. Keep up the good work!

Yeah it takes much time and concentration. My back hurts when I'm engraving for too long.
In fact it's my second linocut, maybe I'll post the first one later.

i remember linocut from school⦠and the cuts i got into my fingertips
i thought about printing things myself too, so i researched screen printing. it needs more effort than linocut but i think it would work very good too
but seeing this is really cool i love seeing type used in 'traditional' ways

First I searched for screen print too. It's not so complicated, but it needs more stuff and chemical products, and I don't want to use this in my tiny apartment.
When I was in secondary school my whole class had german correspondents, and one day while paying them a visit we went to a fine arts lesson. The teacher was telling everyone how to use a cutter, and I was really surprised to see kids allowed to use it in class. It's all about confidence, and I still found the german school system as one of the best.
It's great that you've tried linocut at school, I wish I could have tried it earlier. But I got cuts in my fingertips as well.

haha yeah, you don't want chemicals where you are sleeping
well, you can't really protect kids from hurting themselves. it's better they are taught properly how to use dangerous things like cutters
i honestly hated it I remember the materials not being my friends
