now the troll needs to come out and scare the unwitting peasant John and then demand payment for crossing the bridge or that he'll eat John. cue John thinking the itty bitty troll is SO CUTE and not taking him seriously and then wanting to give him a hug, to which the troll will react to negatively and angrily and run away with John chasing him.
The story ends with John finally giving the troll a hug, and the troll liking it even as he grumbles otherwise. <3
