Why does everyone hate his hairstyle?! I think its kinda cool actually...Little strange....but I think it matches the tone of the game pretty well. it's supposed to look wild and primal, a juxtaposition against the heavily technological world the series is based on.

Well i personally like the new design. He really feels like a gruff commando, where as the original game was using every stereotype for "cool." hell. his name was Rad... RAD!!! The old Spencer felt like he was trying to be a "bad enough dude" while the current spencer feels more deep and badass. Though i think I woulda liked him better if his dreads were just short, and not tied up. But again, he fits well into this new "feral" world. People have to remember, he's a recently released prisoner, not a kick ass high ranking commando. Each character dresses the part. "Rad" dressed like a man who's well equipped for his job. "Spencer" looks like a man who's thrown away his past and is ready to kick every ass that stands between him and his personal justice.

You are right about feral world. After all, he was betrayed by everyone, so his personality is changed) But still... how did he get those dreadlocks and different colour of hair? I mean, we can understand what and how exactly he done with hie hairstyle (maybe it was comfortable with dreads in the prison xD), but what about hair colour? )))

Well if you look, his hair is still SORTA red. To me I kind of thought that his time in prison left him with little options for hygiene, resulting in the discoloration of his hair. It could also be a result of separation from his Bionic Arm. It was implied it is a semi-living thing and separation from it could have adverse health effects. He's also gotten older. All of these are potential factors.
As for his hair style, maybe he grew it like that in some sign of rebellion. His original haircut is just a crew cut, standard military fare. This new hairstyle is totally different, kind of spitting in the face of all that is orderly. It's all probably due to his time in prison.

I think that all these changes are made by Grin and Capcopm for gamers, who don't even know what is BC and etc : ) It's like - hey look this is a new hero with iron hand, he looks so cool and badass.
But I agree with you : ) and I like that point about rebellion.

ps: oh, and in the Rearmed 2 he has a mustache before the main event of the Bionic Commando 2009 (with dreads one ). He is so funny : )

I very much agree with your first point. They made a new "Rad" because it has been 20 years since the last game, and they needed to reintroduce people to the franchise, while still making the old fans happy. That Bionic Commando is the first Bionic Commando many people have ever gotten a taste of.
Also, the moustache I had seen coming...In the concept art you unlock for beating Bionic Commando (09) you see some artwork for Spencer's new look. They did him with his spiked red hair, and then again with a moustache. I actually really liked the moustached look but I'm not sure if it was appropriate for that game. So it seems like they recycled it for Rearmed 2. However, it seems strange that he didnt have one at first, then grew one, and then got rid of it again xD.
But all character studies aside, I really hope that Bionic Commando 09's mixed reception doesnt deter Capcom from making another one. Even though I had a frustrating time playing, the only reason was because of the game's brutally low HP. If they just gave me a little more HP, the game would have been much more fun. I have a Bionic Arm. I wanted to rush in, smash guys up with it, and keep going. Instead, I had to continuously pick away at guys from a distance. I know the point is to use your guns, but I really felt that in this game I could cut loose and show off how strong the arm is. As much as I'm complaining about that, it kept the game a bit balanced. The enemy could kill you just as easily as you could kill them (kinda) so you had to get good at the game, and fast, resulting in you feeling pretty damn bad ass when you did something awesome.
I'll never forget running out of cars to chuck at a Polycraft, so i took a leap of faith and swung from a broken highway sign and nailed it with a grenade. That was so fun!
I really want to see more of Nathan Spencer, and not just in remakes of the original game. The story was actually very well thought out and the game ends kind of on an ambiguous cliff hanger. All they would have to do is give players a bit more health to avoid frustrating "cheap deaths" from a stray bad guy who whacked you with his glowing nerf bat too much, and maybe add some more melee attacks. It's a bionic ARM. Why cant I do any bad ass Bionic Fighting with it?

Yeah, I liked the Bc09 as well. And the story was really good (although some of the pldfans are disagree). Bit the ending is sad, there could be the next game, but Green is dead so... Still, game is awesome.
More health? Naaah, that could be too easy : ) And I actually ths game was diffictult to me at the water levels (hate them so much).

Any time you get too close to ANY badguy, you get his with an electric stun stick thing. Once i jumped into a cluster of guys, smacked like 3 of them, but one lucky asshole got behind me and kept hitting me with his stupid nerf bat. I died in 3 hits, and couldnt get away. The first hit made me flinch, so I got hit a second time. By now, I cant run away because theres too much gun fire to survive, so I had to hope I could kill them all in time, but of course, I got smacked again and died. It should NOT take just three hits from a simple weak enemy to die. You get whacked around by giant mecha and super powered tunneling robots, but you cant take a hit from a stupid nerf bat more than three times?
Also the water was ridiculously unforgiving. I understand that if the water is too deep, you cant swim with the arm because it's too heavy. They explain that. But I've almost drowned (and actually have a few times) on small pools of water that you can CLEARLY see the bottom of. Why cant you just sink to the bottom and walk? Why do I have to grapple out? I understand that you need to grapple out of the water, but sometimes i've fallen in where I cant grapple to anything because its just a few feet too far away. But if Spencer would just SINK and walk across the floor, I could get close enough to it. It's just stupid...
