I find it funny that one of the villains of Mister Miracle is just a greedy salesman. According to a popular legend, Funky Flashman is based on Stan Lee. This is surprisingly false because, in an interview, it was confirmed that Flashman was based on the person who ran Marvelmania International , which ran from 1969 and 1971. The guy cared a lot about the brand and promised a lot of payment to artists such as Jack Kirby but only a few bucks were paid to him and the other artists. They were basically screwed up and the guy who lead the event basically lead it to its downfall anyway. When the people at DC were thinking of new villains, Jack Kirby designed and wrote the character but slowly the character got features of Stan Lee. While Stan Lee wasn't a Funky Flashman himself, Jack Kirby was surrounded by a lot of Funky Flashmans and, in my opinion, Funky Flashman shouldn't be a caricature of Stan Lee but a warning for the real-world Funky Flashmans you will meet in life.
Funky Flashman fact: Funky Flashman would later appear as a member of the Secret Society of Super Villains and became their public relations officer but this didn't last long due to Funky Flashman's con man-ish personality and large ego.
