Unlike you, I can back up my sources, insect. Marvel became partners with Disney, you idiot. They didn't have to, but they did and they were doing just fine without Disney, but besides the Batman films, DC Comics couldn't sell a franchise if their lives depended on it.

Okay since you asked I'll tell you. DC Comics always gets the whole "bragged up to be better than Marvel" talk, and the DC fans totally disrespect us Marvel fans (not all the time, but most of the time). Hell, there hasn't been a fair crossover between DC & Marvel, because they always allow the DC characters to win mostly out of popularity and nothing else.
I didn't say DC was terrible, it's just that I don't care for their characters. Batman and his villains are the exception, because they have appealment to a wider audience than the others. Plus, Batman and his foes are more realistic.

I hate to say this but..... Realism =/= Good comic. heh, well the reason we usually brag is because of some of the stuff Marvel puts out. DC fans have a tendacy to disrespect Marvel fans because some Marvel fans are like "Oh DC sucks because..... because!" and there's a lot more of that then the DC fans doing that. And I wouldn't say when it comes to crossovers DC trumps Marvel all the time, granted some characters of DC are more powerful then Marvel but there is some cases where Marvel trumps DC. Case and point DC vs Marvel, while it was mostly fanvoted Marvel managed to win 2 or 3 more matches then DC but to be honest there were some bad writing moments case and point Storm beating Wonder woman and Wolverine beating Lobo. In the case of Storm vs Wonder Woman, it would of been no contest but with Lobo vs Wolverine logan stabbed him and won... while lobo himself has a regen ability. The two of them if anything would of been at a standstill to the point some tires out.
And surprisingly, I was in yours shoes once. I would usually bad mouth DC back then in my just marvel days of 01 - 06 until I picked up DC vs Marvel. Granted it's not really the best graphic novel out there but it did do the job and got me interested in DC. So I did some research, checked out some stories and ever since I've been a major DC fan. Now granted I was a DC snob but I still kind of respected Marvel it's just their questionable stories and Writers *coughJephLoebandQuasada* made me dislike the company but once again I checked out more of Marvel's stuff to the point they balance out. I don't really read much of either companies' recent stuff mainly because I dwell into their past and wait for the books to come in graphic novel form. Now what you should do is go to your local library and give characters you never thought of giving a chance and give them a chance. Check out the Geoff Johns' stuff of Green Lantern, Superman, the flash, or any of his events, Check out the work of Grant Morrison and see how he did one of the best Superman stories out there and a ton of other great stuff and check out his many Batman stuff. Check out Green Arrow and all of his awesome adventures, and hell I would even say check out Peter David's awesome Aquaman stuff if it were in trade. Peter David is a legendary writer who did the awesome ten year run of Hulk and reinvented the joe fixit idea. Check out Gail Simmon's work on wonder woman, and check out ANY work by Alex Ross whether it's Marvel(Marvels and Earth X) or DC (Kingdom Come and Justice). Or check out DC's legendary events like Blackest Night or Crisis on Infinite Earths, which I say is the best event story out their trumping Secret wars. Yes, I did read Secret Wars and LOVED it however it didn't really have a major effect on the MU as opposed to Crisis to DC. There's many many great DC books out there you just need to go out and read. And another good series is Jonah Hex. Now what I would say is unless you have a certain place in your heart for Silver Age stories as I do, skip some of the silver age DC stuff and check out the 70's or later stuff. Oh and another great writer is Dennis O' Neil who's done terrific stuff with Both Batman(he created my fav batman villian, Ra's al Ghoul)and Green Arrow(He made the character from a joke to a badass) as well as the legendary Pulp magazine character the shadow. And of course there's some of the BIG HISTORIC comic books like Watchmen or the dark knight returns. but also check out sandman by neil gaiman which I heard was good and hey, the guy is a great author who I heard did an awesome reintroduction of the eternals from Marvel. I would also say check out Marvel Legend Jack Kiby's work on DC too, like his huge epic known as Jack Kirby's fourth world and his Etrigan the demon. And Etrigan is also one of those awesome characters you should check out as they really made him into one badass demon from hell.
Yes this was VERY long but you see my point and I hope it inspired you to check out some of DC's stuff, and I would start out with Green Lantern first as that will be a big deal come next year and I would recommend reading emerald twilight first and then green lantern rebirth. Phew... that really was a lot, and imagine what would of happened if you asked me about Independent comics as I got a lot to say about that too.

I really enjoyed Peter David's Hulk work, and I'm a huge Greg Pak fan. Anything regarding Hulk, because he's my 1#... and the strongest there is. Thanks for the suggestions!

However, if you do feel like reading the shadow (one of my fav pulp magazine characters of all time, who is said was one of the key factors that inspired the creation of batman), there's currently no trades other then some old one-shots(one of which was made by marvel but the same writer from DC and it was AWESOME!)and you'll have to read them through single issues.

first of all lol The Hulk isn't even close to Superman's strength of ability. 2nd Doomsday could easily punch through Hulk or even simply rip him apart.
