Description 2008 crayon resist on Bockingford paper
Henry Huntington was a railroad magnate who was intergral in developing Los Angeles in the late 19th century. Huntington Park and Huntington Beach were two of his projects. Huntington Harbour is a community of 5 man-made islands, completed in the early 70s, officially part of the city of Huntington Beach. The main function of Huntington Harbour is to provide dock space for yachts and other luxury watercraft.

Homeboy was a big art buff, and he bought a lot of great paintings, now housed in the Huntington Library and Art Museum.

I was fortunate enough to visit the museum twice and see "Blue Boy" and "Pinky" by Thomas Lawrence, considered avant-garde in the 18th century, now more kitsch, but the paintings are huge and worthy of their place in art history.

Huntington's life story should be taught in public schools, at least in California. Not holding my breath.

I've been to Griffith Park many times. It's rather trashy, which I liked. Another great man in the history of LA, never taught.

Ok, so he tried to kill his wife.
He cleaned up his act and donated a lot of land to LA. Like Huntington, his name lives on and no one knows why.  Ignorance is bliss.
