Description That classic moment when we see Zero's first love in Megaman X4.Β
I still ship these two more so than any other female characters that Zero's got mixed with.
Also, I would totally buy Iris' figurines if Capcom ever decided to make one.

I think Capcom announced Megaman X9 but I have not seen any official confirmation of it and most information out there were fan made.Β  Wonder if Capcom is trying to keep Megaman around or not though.

To be honest, I do wonder myself. Though to also tell the truth, I don't really believe they've actually given up on MegaMan completely and are never going to make anymore MegaMan games.
I have heard something about an X9 project, but to my knowledge, it was basically someone from Capcom saying something along the lines of "the fans have been asking for it and if we see enough passion, we'll do it". I don't really know. It was something like that. Although...after what I've heard and seen, I'm convinced a lot of people in the MegaMan fandom don't really care at this point to be completely honest. Not everyone...but quite a lot of people I've seen.

How are the fans didn't show enough passion for the games in the past years?Β  We the Megaman fans love the series and always willing to play the games.Β  Heck, we played through good and bad Megaman games and Capcom still thinks there isn't enough of a crowd to make more?

People who care about the series, still will care, those who doesn't care, probably can go either way.Β

TheSonicReploid In reply to AzureRat [2015-10-10 20:26:05 +0000 UTC]

Forgive me. I've been offline for a while now and I just realized that I didn't QUITE word my last statement very correctly. What I meant was: at this point in time in this day and age, a lot of fans don't seem to care for MegaMan right now.

When the first few MegaMan games came out, all he was really about was jumping across platforms and gunning down robots to stop Dr. Wily's evil intentions. And this style was...all right. For its time. But that was back in the 90's. It's 2015, going on 2016, and hey, let's face it. MegaMan's never really made much progress or had very many innovative games. Most of his games revolve around the same gameplay style and the same copy-paste plot, and for some people who appreciate innovative games...well...this style just feels very bland and outdated. I understand it was because such games were made for old systems, but we've got systems like the XBox, the Playstation 4 and even the Nintendo 3DS now. There's no reason for the games to look and feel like they still belong on the NES. Unfortunately, besides the fans who actually WANT innovation, you've got the rabid fans who cling to the old style like it's the only thing that matters and they hate everything that's new and different. They just want MegaMan to remain the same style of jumping and shooting type of game, with really outdated NES-style sprite graphics and have the same dried out, copy-paste plot. And really, let me ask you: What's the point of Capcom making new MegaMan games at all if each "new" one is just going to look and feel like the last one you played or like it still belongs in the 90s? And then you've got the fact that these two different sides basically fight with one and other; I see so many people hating on the X series, constantly claiming that they ruined it and that every game after X5 sucked (try telling me that after I've played X8 and Command Mission) and I also see people complaining, even saying that MegaMan's 9 and 10 were terrible because of how they downgraded them to feel like the original MegaMan's 1 and 2 instead of keeping the lovely graphics and creative level and gameplay design they used in MegaMan 8 and MegaMan & Bass. It's pretty much the old Nostalgia vs. Innovation thing. And with both sides arguing and fighting like that, it has to make you wonder what kinds of problems it causes for the game developers/the company. One side wants the series to be different and more interesting and the other just wants it to remain the same.

And if all of that wasn't enough, there's also the fact that Inafune, in pretty much an effort to get back at Capcom for not allowing him to do what he wanted all the time, created that horrible, cheap knock-off and has been trying to replace poor MegaMan with it ever since it was announced. The worst part is, it pretty much worked. There are just so many people in the fandom that I've seen wrongfully labeling Beck as the "new" MegaMan and leaving the real MegaMan as "dead". None of them even bother to acknowledge that Capcom has been trying to get MegaMan back on the board with different marketing strategies such as the comics, having him as a playable character in the new Smash game and that new show that's supposed to air soon. But it's just not enough for them. They're acting like spoiled brats demanding Capcom just drop everything else they are doing right now so they can cater to their demandsΒ  for a new game and because Capcom did not do exactly what they wanted right away, they're just suddenly deciding they don't need them anymore and they're just flocking over to Inafune and his knock-off. They would rather have a lousy imitation of MegaMan instead of the real deal all because Inafune made it and to them, he's a "god" that "can't do anything wrong". Honestly, after everything Capcom's done or at least tried to do to make people happy and this is how most of the fandom repays them? Wouldn't surprise me at all if that was the reason Capcom stopped making MegaMan games.

Really and truly, I would love for Capcom to start making MegaMan games again, as I quite like the franchise, but if they are going to make games for him again, then something really needs to change. A game series can't live off NES-style forever and if Capcom just keeps making games like that, then they're only going to end up catering to the spoiled part of the fandom that refuses to accept change or even give new things a chance. And if that happens, odds are, it's going to end up driving a lot of people away, including fans of the series who've grown bored and any other potential fans that the series would have gained if it had tried something new. MegaMan needs to evolve and branch out to other people. That's the only thing that's going to save him at this point. Because really, the only thing that's killing the poor guy is the fact that nothing has changed much with him and certain "fans" just don't want him to change at all.

That's what I was REALLY getting at. My apologies if it wasn't clear.

Reading your comment makes a vaqlid point..as much of a Megaman X fan i am...changes are unavoidable if you want something to rmeain good. X6 and X7 made mistakes but i heard good stuff of X8. I really did not mindΒ  the changes of Megaman 8..well except the painfull slide jump levels but besides that, story wise and gameplay wise it would be good if there was change.....CAPCOM needs an incentive to keep working or otherwise hteyll be in the comfort zone....as o recently, X, Zero, Sigma having a role in the new fighting MVC Infinite game makes me think deep down they havent abandoned the franchise.....is just tricky to feel inspired to make a new game that will do great in those times.

TheSonicReploid In reply to Sl9086 [2019-04-19 17:16:58 +0000 UTC]

I love MegaMan X a lot too, but for me, I feel as though the series has had its ups and downs in all of its games. By that I mean, every game has had its pros and cons. In my mind, if the good points were taken from each of those games, combined and tweaked a bit, they'd still have the initial concept of the X series (this being playing as X or other characters and traveling through different, huge stages, uncovering secrets and gaining new power-ups and all that) but it'll still create a more fleshed-out and entertaining experience.

The only thing that's stopping them from doing so is the unfortunate fact, that as soon as certain people (who seem to still think it's the 90's where repetitive games with not much content were the norm back then) see something that's even a little too different from what their used to, they lose their minds and then act like developers have no right to do that, despite the fact that their the creators and they have every right.

Honestly, I have not yet played X6 (seen bits and pieces of it, though) and I've only played a very little of X7, and despite the glaring flaws those had, I've seen some good parts of them. One of which is how they decided to go in depth more with the stories and their characters, such examples being Axl's introduction and the struggle he was dealing with as well as learning about Alia and Gate's history throughout X6. Not a lot of people seem to realize just how important things like that are and it's one of those things you learn when you're striving to get into the field of writing. Story doesn't just apply to books, y'know and without that, how do you expect to keep the viewers interested or get attached to the characters? And it's something that concerns me because I often hear X8 getting a lot of praise, and while I've only played a little bit of it, I noticed that, unlike the previously mentioned games, there doesn't seem to be much attention to the story and this is especially true of the characters Layer, Palette and also Lumine. We don't know much of anything about Layer or Palette or how they came into Maverick Hunter HQ and wound up as Alia's assistants or why Alia even needed assistants at all. And Lumine's personality and backstory had next to no real exploration over it. This is more of just a personal thing for me because after seeing X6 and X7 and playing Command Mission (especially Command Mission where there was a lot of depth to the story and its characters) I was honestly real disappointed and felt like we'd taken several steps back. Not calling X8 bad, it had some pros (I rather liked how each stage was stylized and had unique gimmicks to it and it reminded me of MegaMan 8 in a way).

As far as MegaMan Classic goes, don't kill me for saying this, but that has to be my least favorite arc of the MegaMan franchise. The reason? Too repetitive. Most of those games, mainly the NES titles hardly improved on anything and hung onto the basics so much, it felt like it was just the same game but with different Robot Masters. The only ones of that arc I truly really liked were 7, 8 and MegaMan & Bass because all three of those, while they still stuck to the usual concept, they added to them in ways that made it more entertaining, mainly the fact that MegaMan could now use the powers he got from Robot Masters to open up hidden/alternate paths or even interact with the stage itself (like using the Thunder Bolt to activate that machine in Junkman's stage).

I've a lot of other things to say about it, but it would take forever in just one comment. If you ever feel like it, you can talk to me or note me on my page. I rather enjoy talking about topics like these. ...Provided its in a respectable and mature manner, mind you.

Well. Im going to take a while to reply each paragraph because there is a lot of stuff arround to comment properly. Well, first of all, is going to be hard for the franchise to progress if they dont do enough changes or stuff to progress because predicctableness is what ruisn things. Things change and a franchise cant grow if nothing is done.

Well....as something i would want to set things clear, my despise of X7 is the fact that the character of X was derailed and the gameplay did not motivate me enough to give a try. X6 is, well, a bit too hard to attempt a replay altrough there are things i genuinely liked. And yes it would not hurt to have more polished stuff abuot the navigators....not just their roles but, what do they like, and if the staff of the maverick hunters could always need help because there is only so much they could do before overloading. The one thing i got from Lumine is than that reploid ended feeling that he was above everyone else due off his new generation build and plans.....The thing of X8 is that it elt like a return to form after the screwups on X7 (altrough i dont hate Axl) but is just than by that time one feared the damages were already done.

I wont kill yuo for your opinion was the clasic saga. If anything i begun to think deeply than the fatal flaw of it was that they allowed the predictableness of it way too long. Ok i could get that megaman 9 had 8 bit style, it ahd been a while since that style was used and one wanted to return to form...but by t he time of megaman 10, there was no reason to continue doing that. The nostalgia card can only be played a few times before it feels stale, wich is why i appreciated thigns being done in a different style for megaman 11.

Anyway, awesome pic. Love the poster like composition of this.

Man, why is there no D-Arts Iris? Β I would be all over that.

And ah, the ever ominous purple crystal. Β Not everyone is aware of this, but you can get Iris to eject it without attacking her. Β She kicks it out on her own if Zero is in critical condition (the max health you can have is actually LESS than what her laser takes off of you, so watch it). Β Ever since I found that out, never left a scratch on her. Β Of course, she dies anyway because Colonel's chip breaks her brain, but I really do think that would be a more "proper" way for the battle to play out.
