I think you have improved. Just by comparing the 2008 version of Cloud to your Korra you have on your Profile Page, you can see that you've really improved ind etail, it's amazing.
As for your compare.. The only difference I can see in detail besides the obvious use of watercolor is the sholderpad, I think it's more detailed in the 2012 version in terms of content.

Both are amazing. Your painted work seems to show the character of your artwork while your pencil drawings show off your skills. Your newer pencil artworks seem to have smoother shading and look more refined than the pencil drawing you show here. Im looking from my phone screen so i might not be 100% correct.

A testament to your skill to have two equally awesome pieces of art using 2 very different mediums. They both are great, but watercolor in my opinion is much more difficult to make look properly and I congratulate you on your good work. Best of luck for the competition.

I think I like the pencil version better, but I love the coloring you did on the watercolor. However, I think the pencil looks more realistic.
