love the result, I've tried it myself, but I just can't get that soft, smooth result on the blending. how'd you do that?

Definitely a wonderful tutorial. You gave us the steps to face-coloring (a difficult task *sigh*) in one place, and goodness knows I get lost and forget what I'm doing most of the time!

Thank you and very beautiful job! Looking forward to going over part 2

Hello thar.
Thank you for thine generousity in sharing thine skill. Face colouring is some of the most difficult to draw out there, and this certainly helps in learning how to achieve something that looks good.
Thank you once again!
Looking forward to more tutorials!

Holy cow.. I vexel/vector alot but this brings definantly brings attention to me.. haha, it really inspires me to try something like this one day... even though i will probably suck horribly at it..like i do vexels. lol if only i can figure out how u started the base of it.. lol...ahh brilliant

hey if ur good at vexels I first started off with them, an easy way to start digital painting is to use maybe vexel like the skin on a face, then get the smudge tool and blend the layers/lines together, and then use low opacity brushes to paint over it make it more blended. then vexel the next bit like the eyes of lips and do the same thing. once u get the hang of it how the colours go where and what blended with what it will be easier to one day just use a brush (no pen/lasso tools) and just start blobbing the colours into place and then smooth and smudge it right. i hope i didnt confuse you. but good luck

It just looks like you painted a new layer over a smudged or blurred photo and then started erasing away little by little to show the actual photograph... or at least that is what it looks like, especially the dark lines around the eyes and the under shading of the lips.. very odd.) However, I think the brows are painted.
Anyway, if I'm wrong, I apologize, and you've fooled an old artist here, who has an educated eye for these things.
So, congrats on originality.

sorry it looks that way but i really did paint it (using the photo as reference) but the whole thing is painted from scratch with the brushes. sorry it doesnt look right to you. but i really like your paintings they are far more original and better than me. i guess we all have different techniques but i admire your style alot. thanks for the comment anyway.
maybe the next tutorial i will use more screenshots in detail of the actual colours used and layed down, or maybe do a painting without a photo reference

Please don't apologize. I was congratulating you on such an original way of painting, and I was saying that is was so good, it looked like painting a photo... that is a good thing, ok?. Pat yourself on the back. You deserve it.
Keep up the great work!

This looks very much like you just painted over a photo. Then suddenly, pieces of her face become photorealistic. How fancy! I don't believe you painted this. That's ok, but it isn't a very helpful tutorial either..

I agree with you completely. And when compared with the other pieces of work in her gallery, there is a stark difference
