I can only understand a trap like that being useful if you specifically wanted a wasp or bee. Killing a few does nothing
That being said, the atmosphere of the piece matches the death theme best in the grayscale version. the color version is too bright and colorful, which suggests a scene is brimming with energy.
If you wish to keep the color, lower the saturation so it still has some color, but with a grayish tone. That has the illusion of life fading to death.

Death is best represented in shades of black, grey, and white. it makes it more subdued but also louder.

i think i like the color one best. that yellow is to die for. and the detail, extraordinary. and i love the concept behind the shot too. i'd crop it so it's all yellow tho... real close to the bug.

this one's super. wow, it was spur of the moment, you're lucky you've got that great eye! that's also a really scary picture... i cant imagine dying.. no wait choking.. or suffocating.. .in yellow mushy stuff, it's not mustard...i dont think... but its scareeee... soooo good tho

it's a bee catcher, filled with pop...cloudy pop? lol.
I couldn't imagine dying like this either. A hornet flew in it and for the first time I saw a bee actually die in there...it's too hard to cling on somethign I guess, so they just fly until they can't anymore, then fall in the pop..and slowly drown. It's really kinda sad, even though it's a hornet.
