oh god no, if caockroaches looked like that, I think everyone would be devoured by them. It's just some sort of ground beetle thing. Thanks!

Have you seen the video for Rammstein's Links-2-3-4? That's what it reminds me of.
Awesome focus.

I love those bugs. But how his shell shines with the background is great, it makes it look like more than just a snapshot.

There are just so many good things about this particular piece. Personally I like a consice, simple, one-worded title, which in your case very well describes the nature of your subject. The uniformity in the tone also gives the picture a grasping force. The zoom that you decided to focus on the subject is also used very nicely, not leaving too much of unwanted details in your piece. I also like the lighting in the picture, and the thin black border gives a fine finishing touch.

I would trust anybody to not want to get up that close to these buggers . The colours may be a bit too yellowish for my taste, but the closeup and details (Aswell as the sharpness of the photo) are well done, here.

I love bugs. At least photos of them
Good job with this image, I like the crop to accentuate his head. I may have tried to get a little further to the right, but sometimes bugs don't pose like you ask them
Here's some advice for shooting bugs:
1) Focus on the eyes. Just like in people and other animals, it's all about the eyes (in general).
2) Try cooling the bug down a bit if it likes to move. I put bugs in the freezer for 3-5 minutes at a time. Not too much more or you'll kill it. But when a bug is cold, it's very slow
The only other thing is to maybe try and get rid of a little of the color cast, but that's subjective.
Good job, keep it up

thanks VERY much for the critique. That advice will be handy in the future for me, because I always end up finding weird bugs
And I have to work on the focus, but having a manual camera would help. I'm still stuck with automatic, so it's hard sometimes.
thanks again!

no problem
Yeah, automatics make it a little tough, or a lot tough Just keep shooting and you'll figure out a way to get around it

I didn't even think of that! haha, though this bug is quite different from an ant...I wish I could get this close to ants! that would be awesome! thanks for the comment
