Description
Title:Cry No MoreMedium:water mixable oil paint
Size:2ft x 3ft
Model:Rave
Collection of Atty.Lumibao
Rendered in the frozen portrait of the artist's seven-year old son, this painting is a dismal image of his own, youthful self. Ironically, this vivid orchestration of colors in realistic form narrates the early, untimely death of his beloved mother. According to Jaylo, this experience serves as his first, grave tribulation that eventually shaped him into the poetic soul that he has become. Unlike any ordinary child, he has even witnessed the dramatic passing away of his lifeless mother within his very own eyes. The gravity of pain was too much especially for his age, and had he been an average soul, he would have been shattered by the imperceptible scars of emotional devastation. But instead, he became numb. He was forced to swallow that bitter chunk of truth and live with it. All those tears that he could never have cried out solidified into an armor of anti-sensation and served as the sole shield of his much scarred soul. The pointing fingers around the central figure poses as a subtle symbolism for the rundown of trials in his life, screaming and pointing straight in his face. It is also highly noticeable that the child's face seems to glow with confidence and strength, despite the deluge of negativities trying to devour him. This is to simply represent that he has no choice but to get tough, especially in an imperfectly molded dog-eat-dog world. The painting was depicted in a whimsical manner, as if it was taken from an imaginary utopia, one that exists in the surreal corners of a delusive mind. However, according to Jaylo, this secret place is located inside him and it is not a mere product of delusion. It's not running away from the world. In fact, it's the protective shelter that embraces him as faces the sweet tragedies of this candy-coated world.

I just love the colours you picked for this. Not too usual, and not too flashy at the same..
And I must applaud your amazing shading simply stunning..
I know how it feels, been somewhere around there,
And this painting is such a brilliant way to depict that. Love it!! You inspire me

The painting is very good though.
The write up is ridiculous, fawning crap. Average children become numb when their mother dies. Simply because something bad happened to somebody when they were young dosent make them special.
Is Haiti full of brilliant artists now? What about the children who survied the holocaust, are they geniuses?

How dare you belittle something as horridly painful as losing one's parent, way to be disrespectful and insensitive. I know people who have lost parents as children who developed exactly what this painting is speaking of. As adults they are still struggling with this armor, not revealing the crippling pain inside. I cannot believe that you said that, especially as a fellow artist.Show respect for the artist. The narrative is very touching, this painting is as much visually engaging as it is deeply personal.

I read it in it's entirety, and I still cannot believe your insensitivity on the subject. How can you say that losing a parent is no warrent for emotional an response? And then to say "well that doesn't make you special."
I take it your parents are living.

Where do I say 'losing a parent is no warrant for an emotional response'? However you've manage to read that into the words, that's not what the words say.
And I'm not going to engage in point scoring over difficulties. I'd be contradicting myself if I did.

I'm assuming you're an adult, I was paraphrasing.Since you want it verbatim, here you go:
The write up is ridiculous, fawning crap. Average children become numb when their mother dies. Simply because something bad happened to somebody when they were young doesn't make them special.
To call a person's emotional response to something so awful "nothing special" is an incredibly jaded statement. Perhaps Thomas Kinkade's paintings are more your speed, because you are obviously more interested in pedestrian artwork.
Once again, your mother is most likely still living. Apparently nothing "bad" ever happened to you either, or at least if it did, you were shown no empathy. I truly feel sorry for you...you honestly don't realize what you did; you're a big boy, maybe one day it'll smack you on the head...hopefully sooner rather than later.

You are paraphrasing.
I do not refer to the artist emotional response, you have added those words. What I said, verbatim, was that the artist is not special because something bad happened when he was young. Bad things happen to many people, and there are worse things than a parent dying. People are not more valuable according to the sum total of their problems.
The write up says 'had he been an average soul', reasoning that the artist is not average or ordinary. That the artist is atypical, more important than other people who have gone through something similar.
I do not indulge in pity contests and I have no need of yours. Perhaps one day you will experience something that will allow you to see how contrived this is. I sincerely hope not.

What, may I ask, is your problem?
When something devastating happens to a young child, they do often become numb. Especially when they can't vent their feelings to someone.
Some people have learned that when they can't do anything about it, they express themselves through art.

I know, it's really upsetting to hear something of that flavor from the general public, to hear it from a fellow artist is downright troubling. Is the art community becoming enamored for nothing more than visually engaging images without any thought behind its creation? I truly hope not. If he's looking for that sort of thing he may as well buy a Thomas Kinkade painting (not a jab at Kinkade, but his stuff is rather kitsch).

I do have reason. You're being really cold, and yet you don't have anything to back up your claims.
If "read my comment again" is your only response, then your argument is invalid. Therefore, you shouldn't run your mouth.

Sad but then again the truth normally is. Being a kid now a days is tough and if you don't have friends and have one weak spot the rest of them will pounce and tear at it till your nothing but a limp doll to be thrown aside and forgotten. Lesson learned though, and it helps us survive.

When I scold my school kids, this is the exact face I see. I'm sure they need more love and less scolding. This is a good reminder that so few of the children get the positive attention they need.
