Description
I present to you my very first steampunk ring! After the success of my pendant I decided to try my hand at more steampunk jewellery. This ring has been hand carved using recycled Walnut wood sandwiched between two pieces of brushed aluminium. To complete the steampunk theme I then have drilled 8 holes straight through the ring and finished with brass piping.
This was completed in less than a day and although simple compared to my other work I am very happy with the final product.
If I get enough interest in this item I may make a few more to list on my etsy shop.

Do you mind if I ask how you bound the aluminum and wood together? It looks like the brass pipe holds the ring together, but I feel like there is something more.

simple elegance is the way to go. sometimes when things get too complicated it takes a bit of the beauty away, I thoroughly enjoy this ring! you should definitely sell them.

I don't know about it staining the skin, but aluminium doesn't tarnish. I don't see why you couldn't keep using it.

You can just lump me in with the group that says "I'd love to buy, but my wallet is mighty empty."
This is amazing.

Very, VERY nice. It's simple but elegant, and the wood really accents the brass.

this is super cool! i like the idea of it having little holes through it... do they go all the way through? it'd be neat to see a side view!

Fantastic! There is someone else on Etsy that does rings with wood, but they aren't very steampunk. Either way wood + metal = awesome

Looks good! Might i suggest using something other than aluminum though? It can leave nasty marks on the skin and some people can debate that it's toxic when it tarnishes. Either that or give it a nice epoxy/resin/varnish coat. That way it'll protect the skin and keep the wood looking nice.

At the moment the ring is being tested and as yet has not stained the skin. I may look into using silver for my next version though

no harm done then... carry on.
lol.
Silver would look REALLY good next to some walnut or mahogany.

All the metal could be brass for an extra-steampunk look. Brings its own tarnish problems, of course.

Very simple, yet still elegant. I do like the engraving idea, though.
How thick is the ring?

The thickness for the first one is 5.2mm in length x 3mm tall but I am considering increasing the length for my next one.
