Description
I've been batting around this idea for a few years now but never really gotten around to it, well until now obviously! The book has ten, hand sewn signatures which total out to about forty pages in total (I really wanted quite a few more pages than that, but with this just being a first attempt I thought that I'd be sensible - in my next book project though, I'm aiming more for 400+ pages). The front and back of the book are both hand carved, Tiger Martle - a beautiful wood, but quite dangerous to work (the dust is rather poisonous) and the spine is a very simple strip of leather, bonding the signatures, pages & front and back together. I'm really happy with the result and its already sold, so it's been a good result all round! Keep your eyes open for the mark II though - not only will it have 400+ pages but its going to be held together with big wooden hinges and pegs, & hopefully have a 'fairytale' kind of feeling about it!If you like my work, why not join my Facebook here [link]

wooow! this already has a 'fairytale' feeling about it.. it looks... magical! And I love the patterns on the wood. is it really poisonous? how did you decide to choose it? making this must have been really tricky.

Wooden book covers would be so perfect for me cuz I hate when the edges on a new book get all frayed and worn. Even the hard cover books wear out pretty soon, especially the thicker ones.
This is so cool ^_^

Very nice! It looks like it should belong to a wizard or be an heirloom in a family of witches or something.

Oooh I love this! I have a journal with wood covers, oak I think. It has a leather binding and the front and back is made entirely of wood. I love it. Yours is much more creative and beautiful though. Amazing job

Ouh that would be nice for my next diary. A bit heavy for my all day carring around diary - but it's a very nice idea and work!
