In another world, a different set of ponies became parents to the Mane Six. But how did these ponies discover the destinies that would define the rest of their lives?

-Twilight always loved looking at the stars. Then she learned about astronomy one day at school and was immediately hooked. Though she loved searching for a lot of things with her telescope, the one thing she set her sights on was a faraway cluster of stars that was notoriously difficult to find. After weeks of searching, she found it. Overjoyed, she kept thinking of how she knew she could find it and that she wanted to dedicate her entire life to doing this. Then a different bright light illuminated the night and when she looked down at her flank, a new cutie mark had appeared!

-One day, Apple Cider's family invited her to help with something she never did before: squishing down the grapes into juice for their customers. One second helping with it had her hooked. She felt like she could help with juicemaking forever! She was so into the task at hoof, she didn't even notice her new cutie mark until she stepped out and her family pointed it out.

-Studying plants was one of Posey's favorite things to do. This came in handy when one day, while walking through the woods, she saw a flower in a desperate state. Using what she knew, she successfully brought it back to health. Looking down at her work, she knew she was meant to help out plants like this. And just like that, a collection of flowers appeared in a flash on her, the mark of her destiny.

-Glory was an all-star student encouraged to pursue academics, but she felt more at home watching ponies perform and longing to join in. The time came for just that when auditions were announced for the school play. She was so excited and studied for weeks to perfect her audition. Though she had her nerves, she gave it her all and before long was completely into her role. Once she finished, the judges commented on how impressive it was for her to perform something ahead of her age. It wasn't everyday somepony got their cutie mark in an audition. When Glory saw the shooting star mark in particular, she was ecstatic and bounced out of auditions knowing she was destined for greatness. She also got news that she landed the lead role in the play. Best audition ever!

-She knew she didn't need to when her new friend said her birthday was coming up, but she couldn't resist. Her name was Surprise after all! She sure hoped her friend would like it. But she didn't just like it, she loved it! In fact, a lot of ponies she invited loved it! One remarked that Surprise had a gift and the pegasus couldn't deny this was pretty fun to plan. They even asked if she could plan their upcoming event and she figured "Why not?" And just like that, her destiny revealed itself in the form of three purple balloons, her cutie mark!

-Firefly was never one to follow the rules. Even rules she probably should've followed like "don't go flying in thunderstorms". Nevertheless, she snuck out during one of these storms and was in love at first flight. The adrenaline, the wind in her hair, the rain on her coat, and the thrill of being right up in danger's face. It made her want to chase other storms even more extreme than that: tornadoes, hurricanes, the works! It felt like her calling. However, she had some explaining to do when she came back inside, especially since she brought something back with her: a brand new cutie mark.
