In another world, a different set of ponies became parents to the Mane Six. But how did these ponies discover the destinies that would define the rest of their lives?

-Nightlight, a Canterlot foal in Little Germaneigh, had a passion for reading and writing. However, he also took lessons from a family friend in the art of night sword performance. He'd soon have to test what he learned there and decided on a whim to tell a story he wrote through it. He passed his test with flying colors, was congratulated on telling stories through art so well, and no longer felt torn on which one he liked more. He could do both! As this confusion vanished, a cutie mark of a moon and two stars appeared in its place on his flank, much to his teacher's delight.

-Cherries Jubilee always liked helping at Sugarcube Corner in his free time. After some time helping with menial chores, he was allowed to help with a batch of cupcakes. He got covered with flour and sugar, but that was just life. This sparked a fire in him that hadn't been lit before and he left that day with a new cutie mark and a new sense of purpose.

-Snowball's family took the holidays very seriously and Snowball wanted to do something special for his mom. After seeing her use perfume every morning, he thought he could try and make her that. After some advice from an outside source on how to make it, he gathered up some random plants and flowers he found and put them all together. What he made wasn't perfect or the best smelling thing around, but it sure made his mom happy on Hearth's Warming. He decided he wanted to make these more often do he could see more of these smiles. With a new sense of purpose, his flower bundle cutie mark appeared.

-When Angelfish learned you could teach your pet fish tricks, he wanted to try it with his goldfish at home. After some trial and error, he taught them to jump through a hoofheld hoop on command. After showing his parents, they said he might have a future as an aquarium trainer and he was starstruck. Training even bigger fish even crazier tricks? Sign him up. And with a white flash from his flank, destiny did.

-Lickety Split always loved making ice cream, but didn't discover it was his destiny until his teenage years. He volunteered at his local ice cream shop and his skill at creation impressed the owner. At the end of the day, the owner thanked him for the help, complimented his work, and offered him a summer job at the shop in a couple months. They even gave him a free cone of what he made afterward and he realized this was something he enjoyed and wouldn't mind doing all the time. This opened the door for his cutie mark to announce itself at long last.

-Like his future wife, Feathermay was a rebel child, but more as a wandering spirit. On a family hike, he snuck off when they weren't looking like he usually did to follow his own path. This time, he discovered all sorts of things he hadn't before and was caught in the thrill of adventure. His destiny seemed to agree, and as he fantasized about going on bigger adventures he read in books when he grew up, light illuminated the woods and three new feathers on his flank appeared.
