Description Rendered in Daz Studio 4.8 with Iray
No postwork

I finally broke down and purchased Victoria 7 from DAZ3D. Here's my first creation using the new base model. I do like the new model better than the Genesis 2 version, as there are some good improvements. The joints work better. Also, I never liked the way Victoria 6's legs looked. The legs were the main reason I never converted my characters from V4. I'm just picky like that.

Having said all that, I'm still irritated with DAZ3D for the way they market this product. The genitalia is a separate prop that is only included with the pro bundle package. Seriously? Yep. You have to buy the most expensive package to get the full model. Even though most of my images don't actually show the genitalia, it still annoys me that I don't have the complete model, because I'm not able to afford the pro bundle. It seems to me to be a blatant money marketing ploy, not to mention that it also seems a little bit weird. They're using Victoria's genitalia to sell the pro bundle, like she's a whore, and they're pimping her out. That's just my opinion, of course, and some may disagree. I think the "pro" bundle should include things that "pro's" actually use, like the morphing tools and expressions. What do you think?

I totaly agree with you, Daz and victoria become money's pumping machine...
About you model, she is lovely. Iray is a great improvement for free daz user like me.
Light, shaders and material are "splendide" !

She's lovely, all the joints look really good and she's got a beautiful face. The gens thing surprises me a bit, but it doesn't surprise me that someplace like Renderotica would have other options. What surprises me most is that they are introducing all these new characters for G3/V7 and not reintroducing the mainstays like Aiko and Stephanie.

Thanks! I'm sure they are waiting to release Aiko 7 and Stephanie 7 until after they make their money off the new stuff.

That could be, as long as all the costumes they are presenting will work with all of the character morphs it would probably be fine.

I cracked and bought G3F and while I really like the model I totally agree with you and the others here about the way it's being sold. Big shame. The only plus point is that the G2F clothes and hair transition across fairly well, so the G2F investment isn't totally wasted.

I've also found that my rig (2 x 3Gb 780s) can't handle more than two G3F figures under certain circumstances, which limits the scenes a bit.

Oh - great render and character by the way

Thanks! I'm using a single 4gb 770 and don't have any limitation issues - at least not any different than 3delight. My computer has 32gb of ram as well. I wonder if that makes any difference?

The Octane panel claimed it was the GPU memory being full rather than RAM. But a lot of RAM Might might make for faster scene set-up, perhaps.

So nice and pretty caracter ! Always these details by the pose, the look, the clothes. I like the detail of her hairstyle and colored hair. You make so beautiful artworks. Your book story of Androssian Prophecy is so remarquable by beautiful images and by intessant epic story.  ;°)

How they sell their figures bothers me a bit too. I haven't really tried much with the Genesis 3 figure yet anyway.

On a side note, I love the textures on that outfit set. Haven't seen that one before, and I really like it. Wish that set didn't come with the ridiculous high-heeled boots though

I know right? What is the deal with all of the outfits having high-heels? Who the hell can actually fight in those things? It's been annoying me for quite some time.

Well they sell the males the same way, you must not use the dingleberries based on your comment about the female bits . To add to it, not all mercs package gen textures either...bunch of prudes!  So, spend a little less on another site and you'll get gens that look better than the ones they force you to purchase with the Pro bundle...

The pro bundle for the Mil4 was packed full of stuff. Pro bundles for the new peeps have 1 or 2 hair item, 1 or 2 clothing item, 2 or 3 posing files and 1 or 2 character skin and that's it. Really piss poor in what you get for the price you have to pay. It forces you to purchase the PC club membership and buy on the spur of the moment when it's released as DAZ doesn't give you a sales date. Then the clothing items you do get, just seem like they're a revamp mesh...as in a pair of pants that cut off at the knee so it makes it impossible to have the model wear them without the boots...but same pair of pants next time has a little frilly thing on the hips or around the knees [gag] and then the boots are the same in each package. Really! I really  need to learn how to make my own clothes but I know I lack the patience in a major way for it.

I'm mixed about V7, I'm not that keen on her ultra glossy lips, the edges appear way too cookie cutter shape. But I think she looks great, the skin looks fantastic and I've heard she's got better bends than G2...and I'm thrilled with G2...but now that V7 is out, mercs will stop supporting G2 and move on to V7...and by the time they make like 3 sets V8 will be out...at some point, I think the mercs have to got tell DAZ to knock it off....not all of us have the end of a rainbow in our backyard.

Yes, I remember the Mil4 pro bundle actually came with morphs and a good variety of items. Now, you get crap. And you're right, the clothing sets are pretty generic. True, I don't use the male gens, but selling them the same way is equally retarded.

Nythande In reply to Bad-Dragon [2015-08-10 21:54:03 +0000 UTC]

If I remember right, when they rolled out Genesis, they were not going to have gens...something like that... but it caused something close to torches and pitchforks on the forums that they released it but in the Pro bundle set that was the only place you could get the gens.... Silly. They don't give anyone a heads up of whats coming down the pipeline, the old DAZ crew before the buy-out would give the PC members a flash of what they were working on...and used to the word "soon" which could be 2 months to 10 months down the road before it was released. Now the new crew wants to maximize their profits buy doing the pretty aggressive sales tactic of get it now and toss up the flash sales and new BIG items like Vic7 when G2 was a huge improvement I think and that's where I picked it up when they offered the Genesis items at a major deep discount and then next week along comes G2. I think 1 year later here comes V7! I think I'm just going to get the base figure, I have the gens for G2 that 3feetwolf put out and he has one for V7 and I'll just get that to complete the figure. How does Auto fit work with older clothes on V7? I just wish they'd start their models with the same feet/pose setting so all the shoes put out will work regardless of model...but I know nothing about modeling, so I don't know if that is an impossible idea or they just don't think when they create.

Telperion-Studio [2015-08-10 01:21:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, I can not remake my characters using G3F and G3M. It´s  impossible to use the same textures. So I will continue with G2. It is possible that I use G3 with future characters, but at the moment...no. I don´t think about that.
But your character is pretty, Arne. Good work.

Bad-Dragon In reply to Telperion-Studio [2015-08-10 04:45:20 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, Juli!

Yeah, I doubt I will be converting any characters. At least, not without some kind of conversion program for morphs and textures. I don't even know what I will use this character for, lol. Maybe a future book.

JohnScatha [2015-08-09 22:32:35 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that logic evades me too, Arne.

However, the gens is just a prop, but Poison made a set of morphs for them that works really great.
Like you, I too expected the morphs to be in a PRO package, but obviously someone at DAZ isn't familiar with logic...  *smh*

Bad-Dragon In reply to JohnScatha [2015-08-10 00:57:02 +0000 UTC]

Well, they know that people who actually work with these models will have to buy those things anyway, so they will squeeze every dime they can out of us. I guess I shouldn't complain too much, though, since the software is still free. Then again, the more people you can give the software to, the more people who will buy your content.

Yeah and that gap between poser and DS just got a lot bigger with Gen3 and Iray.

Have to admit that Iray is a real treat to work with, albeit having to relearn lighting, but the real pain is the incompatibility with previous Genesis iterations due to the new UVmapping.

You could jump right into the New Gens For Victoria 7  It's an excellent poes.  Inexpensive too.  I have both (cuz i dropped fo dat pro...) and the 3feetwolf is the shiznit.

I think the real problem with g3f right now is just the lack of centent, IE all g3f's kinda look exactly the same atm.  But that will change...

Thanks for the link. I'm glad I didn't buy the pro bundle now!

The G2F props seem to auto-fit pretty well, but you can't use any of the V4 stuff. And I don't know of any way to convert UV maps yet either. I like V7, but it will probably be awhile before she shows up in the Prophecy.

What?! Pro packages using things aimed at pros? Bad Dragon, Bad Yeah, I'd much rather the pro packages have the HD stuff, and aging and muscularity morphs. Or, just some different skins so Vicky can be used as something other than white.

That said, very nice render. What's that hair prop? It's especially nice for fantasy hair.
