Description OK..better late than never...

This is a Tomahawk IIB operated by 112 Squadron in Egypt in 1941 and flown by Neville Duke.
The planes were delivered from the USA painted in DuPont equivalents of standard British colours, Dark Green and Dark Brown Upper surfaces with a DuPont Sky Grey under colour.
When delivered to Egypt, the RAF changed the camouflage by over-painting the Dark Green with Middle Stone and the Grey with Azure (blue) with spray cans which is why the Dark Earth bands are narrower.

This Squadron was thew originator of the Shark-mouths which became synonymous with the P-40 and the AVG in China copied them becoming the "Flying Tigers".

The climate is brutal for maintenance and that is why the Dark Earth and Roundels have been weathered to match those in the photo of AK402 after a belly landing.
The Azure patch under the F is open to debate, I simply cannot disprove the assertion looking at the photo.

I hope you enjoyed this and welcome any comments or criticisms you may have.

Thank you so much for the comments, it means a lot and I'm glad you like them.
I think the Hawks were all pretty pugnacious looking, they always looked like they wanted a fight.

They could take a beating too.

I think that's why, regardless of their lack of pace or capability at altitude they were popular with their pilots.
I think any pilot wants to feel safe enough and they knew that the Hawk could take a beating and still get them home.

Not to mention that while they lacked in performance at high altitude, they were very dangerous at low or medium altitude.
