Description

3000 Years after the End of the World...

The Garden that MAN dwells in was once inhabited by GODS. The GODS lived in a time of plenty. All things were good, all things were given, none went without. Yet even so, the GODS fought. The GOD UNAF attempted to quell the violence, but was not able to stop the destruction of Eden. The egos of the GODS led to their destruction. UNAF was left alone. So in her image, UNAF made MAN, so that she would not be lonely. MAN was given domain of the lands that the GODS once dwelt.

- The Origin of Man - 1:1-5

Mother of man, light of the world and guardian of Earth, protect us o' UNAF

- Prayers to the Mother - 20:1

The world has long forgotten the "GODS" of old and has rebuilt itself upon a new foundation.

The world of "How Shall We Sing the LORD'S Song in a Strange Land" or HSWSTLSIASL began as a worldbuilding experiment about 6 months ago, where I ran with the concept of a far-flung post-post-apocalyptic Earth and began warping and twisting the survivors languages, names and societies. This is only a sliver of the lore I have written up on this world. Most of what I've got is based around Ostlie (the eastern continent) and the Seodo Sungug (Great Empire). Most outlying islands are really only in name with no lore.

The no nonsense version of the setting is:

In the far-flung future there was a cataclysmic human war in the solar system, that very nearly wiped out life itself. Heavy use of anti-matter weaponry and tectonic weapons caused irreversible damage to the Earth's landmasses. If humanity survived in space, they are probably long gone by now. The United Nations Armed Forces (UNAF) were the surviving faction who attempted to manage the post-war recovery before humanity plunged into an actual regressive Dark Age. Unaf (or Yuen in the West) has become mythologised and its origin forgotten. Now they're seen as a Creator God throughout most of the world. Humanity has now re-industrialised and is re-entering the digital age once more, ignorant and unknowing that this is not the first time, for now.

You may be wondering what language the buttons and UI is written in, that is Tishnkan which is a descendant of a creole that formed from Urdu, Scots and English. 3,000 years later is has evolved itself into a proper language. They grow up so fast. It is spoken in the Imperial State of Tishnka off the eastern coast of Ostlie (Read more about it the image!)

To ensure that the lore was not just in gibberish, I have it in English, or within the timeline, Vulgar Angli. This is comparable to ancient Latin, in that it is a long dead language that is only really used by scholars and nerds (you the reader).
