Description
Note all but two of the models are all my work see part 1 for full credits. Everything else is my work and 100% scratch built.I have grown as a 3d artist and much of what I am doing with this project is game ready meaning some details are omitted to let the texture work fill in the blanks for better performance ingame. But I have made some show models of these vehicles as well. Part of this was to do something of mad max for gaming mods. And while that is a part of the mission here it is also to preserve the details of these vehicles for future generations to view and enjoy as these are very much functional works of art.
I have spent much time befriending people who knew people who worked on the films themselves and somethings just fell into my lap as some of the actors have started to scan in their old photos from the set and put them on their profiles. But it's been a long road. The lack of available refs ,outside of the movies themselves (because outside of fury road they never included the deleted scenes from the other mad max movies) has made it difficult to get this far. Thus why this has taken 14+ years to make so far. I used to have a camcrder that took screenshots so I used to try to take shots of a vhs movie on a crt tv. You can imagine the loss of clarity and quality. DVD's came along but most prints where not remastered so the picture was not much better over the vhs. Thankfully with blu-ray and even HD DVD we have had some of the clearest pictures. But the honest break through was facebook.
There are museums out there in Australia that have some of the original vehicles on display. they have been nice enough to get me snapshots of some of thier vehicles as well as a peek at a private photo collection that cannot be shared with the world (sorry fans). And through facebook I've met some of the actual actors from the second movie. The madmaxmovies . com forums were also a great spot where sometimes people posted workshop photos of the cars in process. and some awesome memebers helped me get my first photo archives.
I have now gigs worth of photos to work off of and some have shown me detail that no edition of the movies ever did. I plan to keep on working till there is no more vehicles that can be made. This could take the rest of my life as I am disabled and not always able to model and I have a child I care for ontop of all of that.
