“ХЕРСОНЕС. ЗОЛОТЫЕ НИТИ ЗАКАТА”
Date: Oct. 18, 2013.
Materials: pastels, Russian sauce crayons, Derwent Inktense & Derwent Drawing colored pencils, brown gouache, blue and magenta inks, white acrylic on green-gray cardboard, 29x50 cm.

No wonder. Chersonesus is the best-preserved ancient Greek polis (town) outside of Greece. It is also the place where St. Vladimir, the Prince of the Kievan Rus, got baptized in 987 A.D., which was the most important event in the history of the old Russian and the entire East Slavic civilization. In a way, those noble ancient ruins are to every Orthodox Christian Slavic person what Jerusalem is to every Jew or Mecca to every Muslim.
