Since some folks asked why there wasn't a tiger in the last series
. I actually intended to do a tiger in the exact same style but I deviated. I am not sure why, maybe something as silly as I wanted to paint hearts on a tiger again and a starry background. Who could tell!?! I don't feel it fits in with the series in anycase, more refined in detailing, different use of light and all that jazz.
Medium: Acrylic, acrylic ink on hotpress watercolor paper
size: I believe it's about 4x7.5"...but it may be smaller or slightly bigger.

It's a beautiful artwork. I always thought acryllics were too difficult to paint with (that's probably why I don't..) so I always get impressed when someone does something great like this.

This piece is simply gorgeous. It took my breath away the moment I saw it. The colors are just the perfect balance to make it feel cool but warm enough to not be cold. The yellows and pinks warm it up just enough. The placement of the tigerβs nose / mouth in comparison to the stars and the addition of the trails make it appear as if he is breathing the life and the stars into the sky. The heart markings making up the stripes give it a peaceful, wholesome feeling. This piece makes me think of the idea of spirit guides. I am wowed every time I look at it to give more critique.
There are not many things I can find that would need to be corrected about this piece but I do see a couple things that stood out to me. One is the light source. On the back of the neck you have one light source, and then on the opposite side on the chin and ruff and neck is another one. There seems to be an additional light source above but that one is not consistent. Also there are not many reciprocal shadows to match the peak highlights.
I love the effort and effect you got with the brushstrokes in making the fur. The detailing is fabulous. The eye feels like it is alive, and the nose and teeth are fantastically realistic. I really like the effect of the stars and the rings around them. Your artistry is amazing and beautiful. Your mastery of painting fur is to be highly commended. I am so impressed by your work.
I know you said this is acrylics, but do you use any additives? How did you create the airy quality around the stars?

The white goes so well with the blue it's too bad whites are mutated inbreds, they really shouldn't be so popular because they hurt the species gene pool as a whole
