Hello Balaa. I'm glad I got to meet you at FC, and the chance to buy this print. I'm sorry we didn't have much of a chance to talk, I was a bit culture-shocked during my stay in california. I wish I hadn't been on such a tight budget or I might have bought more.. I'm sure you understand. I sent something your way anyway to say thank you--it's artists like you that made the sidetrip to the convention worthwhile.
As for this painting, it is absolutely beautiful. I once had a chance to see the sunset like this, at low tide on the beaches of Sarasota. I had my camera with me, but try as I might, I could never get the picture I wanted. You captured in this painting what I could not, and far more... When I have the chance, I look forward to framing the print and putting it on my wall to remind and inspire. Perhaps one day I'll even find the time to take up photography again.

Cons tend to be busy and go go go, I'm just sorry I didn't remember ya right away. I am never firing on all cylinders at cons (not to mention when someone SAYS a name I am used to reading, it doesn't always register)! But I am so glad you made it. It was just lovely to chat with you for those brief moments. You are an utter sweetheart. I absolutely more than understand about money being tight and I hope you didn't feel obligated to buy anything at all. Of course I come to cons to make money but that's not the only reason. It is always an honor just to put faces to online names. I truly hope your job hunt proves fruitful and that someday you can pursue your dream of photography. In the meantime I hope you still find time to put your talent to work now and then .
Thank you so much for the subscription. I was visiting some friends before returning home when I saw the notice in my e-mail. I am sincerely thankful..but again I hope you didn't feel you had to! I am happy the print has a wonderful home, it may be 'just' a print, but as an artist..you understand that it's still a piece of who we are.

That's fine, Balaa, I understand you'd never seen or heard me before, so it's all good. (: Thank you very much for the kind words and well wishes. I will do what I can with what I have, and one way or another things will all work out I'm sure.
You are most welcome, and I am glad I was able to provide something you appreciated. I know I didn't have to buy anything from or for you, but I wanted to. It brings me joy to support an artist I respect and admire, just as the print I bought brings me joy to look at and be reminded of the beauty of nature and artistic expression in the world around us and in ourselves.
Keep up the great work. (:

Wow, the colours you used here are absolutely beautiful. and the reflection looks so realistc. Did you use a ref picture? Or from memory? Made it up?
The composition is nice, too.

no refs c:..aside from general ones for sand, various angles on the fennec, that sorta thing.(The fennec actually has horribly inaccurate anatomy...and I SHOULD have used more refs to get it correct but it was a speedpaint more for mood than accuracy). Thank you for the lovely comment, I'm flattered.

Ah, well when I meant refs I was mainly referring to the colour. So, no refs for that? Wow... that's some insane sense of colour you have.

I often start off with an idea based on the atmosphere or colors I see in my mind. but rarely is it ever as vivid as it was with this idea. Other times I start with a more loose idea of color/lighting that I want and then I go research it to fill it in in my head and on the 'canvas'..and sometimes while researching my direction shifts altogether. So it really varies. I believe very strongly that references are an extremely important part of painting, especially when you are trying to mimic reality.
