I love this for purely artistic value. Maybe it doesn't look the most photo-real, but the composition and colors... it's so beautiful. I'm very VERY picky about what I might hang on my walls, but this is something I would frame and display.

You are such an amazing artist. I love the perspective and lighting on this piece especially. If I didn't know the rest of your gallery, I would be amazed that this is a speed paint. It's better than I could ever do. Nice job!

I enjoy the dimensionalism; you can look at it on a wide scale and see a beautiful image, and then look closely and see the brushing... simplicity combined with fantastic skill

And if that were a photo, the photographer would be praying "please don't look down".

You are my hero for succeeding at painting a tiger from this angle. I'm also totally digging the backlit effect.

Well, you did the best job I've seen thus far. I've tried before and failed miserably. I need more practice!

Gorgeous. Abolute fantasticalism.
So here's the question... how long did you take for a sketch if you got all that amazing coloring done in less than an hour?
π: 0 β©: 1
balaa In reply to xblacked [2008-12-11 02:18:48 +0000 UTC]
eh? I paint sketched it..so the hour is for all of it x). For most of my work I tend to do a sketch in pencil or open canvas before painting, but with these, I started with a single color background and just went from there...no plans..no sketch..just go c:.

youd be surprised what can come out of your head when you are relaxed and listening to a piece of music that energizes you!

The perspective is what sets this apart.
Is this from the depths of your imagination or did you manage to find a reference image for this incredible work?

balaa In reply to Luineannon [2008-12-11 02:04:16 +0000 UTC]
no refs for any of my speedpaints. I think that's part of the reason I am doing it. Im trying to teach myself to loosen up as an artist, focus less on the details and more on the big picture. Thank you for asking!

Even more impressive. You must have studied animals and fur for quite some time in order to pull off speed painting with such accuracy. I'd love to learn more about how you accomplish this.
Do you have a blog or tutorials on your process?
