Description
A little while ago my beloved Lorien was away for a week visiting with family. While I missed him terribly, the time alone swept away the years and took me back to where we first stood to face each other. Whether it was on a whim or not, one day as many years ago now, he sent me a note on Deviantart. In it, he introduced me to the most clandestine place in his heart and I fell in love with the story and all the souls that populated the world that he had been building. Little did I know then that our road ahead would be fraught with peril, potential dead ends and many a wrong turn. But through it all, we remained friends and maybe even because of the journey itself. But I still most fondly recall the unlikely beginning and while he was away, I took time to revisit the world that we, now together, seek to bring to life. This painting is a very rough concept of a dream sequence idea I had while he was away in which the protagonist dreams of those things that he has lost from both within and without. My greatest failing in art being overthinking and overdetailing, I aimed to keep the painting loose leaving the sketch lines visible. The wondrous sky is borrowed from NASA. The concept doesn't get near to what I imagined but it is as good a starting point as any!

The sky looks like it has the texture of tree rings, like when a tree is cut, was this intentional?

This one just gives me a special feeling! I want to believe it's real! I adore that sky and I believe you have the most convincing image of the Tree of Life that I've ever seen! Gorgeous work, I love the creamy-golden glow in the tree and figures!
