Been experimenting with the smudge tool a lot lately for super-speedy ideations with simple brushes. It's more like sculpting than painting, true pixel-pushing.Related content

Do you have any tips on how to use the smudge tool properly? I know many pros use it but when I do it looks awfully amateur and ugly, and you clearly know how to do it, it looks great. I really like the big gate, it's so simple yet it looks so good

I'm toying with the idea of putting together a video on the process. Here I alternated between a hard round and square brush with all settings off, pulling out shapes from blobs of color painted on it's own layer.
