Description I don't think I posted this up yet, but these are general values of how grayscale translates to really saturated colors.

All of the colors are at 100 saturation 100 brightness.
The grayscale is how they look in proof preview under a grayscale device simulation.
The numbers are the brightness value of the grayscale version.

So the bright yellow is like a 97 brightness gray while a deep blue is around 27 brightness.

How can we use this?
When we're painting in grayscale, keep these in mind.
When you paint something that'll eventually be really red, for example, it can only get as bright as a mid value range.  No matter how much you pump the saturation on a really bright object, it'll just get pink and not red.

If you're doing a hue/saturation adjustment and you want an area to have higher chroma, don't just use the saturation slider.  Maybe if you pull around the brightness slider, the colour will really start showing through.

hope this is helpful to those who come across this.
I know I've been pulling my hair out when I started painting because all of my colors were just constantly washed out.

This is very useful to have as reference! I always check my paintings in greyscale to properly check the values but having a chart helps getting thins right from the start! Thanks!

This helps so much. I've had trouble toning down my colours actually and thanks to this post I now know that I must decrease the brightness of my colours. This is a great help!
