Yeah, no phones, either. There was that filmstrip in "Hurricane Fluttershy," but that was more of a gag than anything.
I like it - It's kinda like that spiel everyone's heard about how all sorts of classic stories would be made irrelevant by cell phones.
Though a "let's make a movie!" episode would be pretty cool.

Agreed. I had several flags raised in my head when I saw the projector and screen in that episode. But I guess it's because Equestria is still in a more steampunk period. Cellphones would ruin the whole show, I believe. Radios could be fun. A whole "War of the Worlds"-style radio telecast episode would be awesome, especially when it sends everypony running in chaos. Remember when "War of the Worlds" first aired on radio in real-life? Many of those who heard it thought that aliens really WERE attacking Earth!

Damn this is an aesthetically pleasing style. Bold lines, bright colors. I like it! It's almost like an odd amalgamation of G3 and G4, and it works so well! I'd def watch a show that looked like this. And rather funny comic all around. Great work

I actually thought about using the eyedropper to take colors from official-ish vectors, but decided to eyeball it instead since I trust my own color sense over technical accuracy. I then messed around with the brightness/contrast settings till I found a balance that really popped for me.

This is an interesting look you've given the ponies, Balthasar. For some reason, I want to associate it with an earlier generation of the show, with those juicy, thick, black lines and relatively small eyes. No, I'm not saying its awful; just the opposite, in fact! I find this look rather attractive. Your line work pops the colors out more!

I think I saw an episode of G1 when I was like 6 or 7...All I remember is a pony witch character and her assistants who wanted to make everything dark, and that it was structurally the same as the "boy" shows, just stylistically different...But that's it. I really don't even remember what it looked like.
Yeah, I really didn't plan this out when I started drawing it, and I wondered what to do about the lineart. I decided to go with variable-weight black since it's just what I'm most familiar with... But at some point I wanna try the vectorized pastel outlines that define the show's look.

As for the TV, I just wanted it to look kinda shitty. Plus I think those old "transistorpunk" electronics are kinda sleazy-cool; same with boxy old cars like the Vanagon and Chevy Malibu (i.e. the car from Repo Man). It's like the industrial design equivalent of the best Dad Rock.

I rarely ever watch television anymore (aside from the occasional cartoons on the computer), instead I find myself engrossed in one tantalizing book after the other. The experience of reading is more rewarding than most TV shows out there.
With that said; great comic. It is nicely executed and captures Rainbow Dash's personality well.
