Description
I had considered publishing this comic without dialogue, thinking that would elevate a goofy pun to the level of Algonquin wit; turns out it just made it even weirder than it already was. So, word balloons for everybody!Mechanical #2 on bristol, with bits of charcoal here and there to emblacken the black parts (I learned the hard way that charcoal doesn't stick to graphite, er-duh), set as a multiply layer over some basic paintbrush in Paint Tool SAI. (Most colors eye-droppered directly from show screencaps, but then I drop the opacity of the color layer until it doesn't make my brain bleed. Jean-Auguste- Dominique Ingres is my homeboy.) Learned quite a bit on color theory on this one, just from watching the same color change from panel to panel just because I put it next to a bear.

The graininess is sloppy pencils on Bristol board before scanning. Probably some scanner/image size shrinking artifacts in there, too.

Why am I reminded of a certain CatDog episode?...

There was one CatDog episode where Dog stretches for miles away from his connected counterpart to work in a city. The EXTREMELY long torso that connected the two was very similar to this picture.

Y'know, even months after drawing this, I never put any thought into where the other end of Pinkie might be and what it might be doing...

I've got to stop reading so many comics with Pinkie Pie in them. My brain's starting to hurt.

Heh. She is a comic writer's friend. You can get away with just about anything with Pinkie.

Also I looked at the comic again and I read the title of the book, funny stuff there man, wait let me check your page, yeah your a guy so man.
I could imagine Twilight reading the book and deciding she needed to test out the theory of the or something, resulting in the ironic tripping.

Heh. In an early sketchbook draft, the book and the subsequent fall was the entire joke. Then the Pinkie idea came out of nowhere and I decided to follow it where it went, so to speak.

The extended Pinkie joke came out of nowhere huh? Oddly appropriate considering the character.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I get the feeling that what I find funny is a little off-kilter from other folks so it's always great to find a kindred spirit.

Heh. It went into Google Translate as, "I wonder if Andrea Libman can speak Korean." Looks like it comes back as "Andrea Libman Korea can say I am wondering if it is." Which is incredibly profound-sounding.
Good to know the old Babelfish Engrish is still alive and well.

Yup, but it also depends on the grammar of the language.
Dutch>German goes really well, because they have a very similar senctence build.
Dutch>English is just plain horrible...
