Descriptionquaralian  knightess in a standard suit of armor, with a pair of weapons and a shield.

The first and primary weapon is a broad curved blade with a transverse hilt (very similar to the indian pata ), wielded in the right primary arm. Due to their relatively stiff wrist structure, quarali overwhelmingly prefer this design over the one with the hilt going parallel to the blade.

The second one is a simple sword, similar to those used by many humans in the ancient times. It is operated with four secondary arms and is used as an auxiliary weapon for quicker, thrusting moves.

When it comes to knighthood and military in general, quaralian species displays an interesting intermingling of biology and culture. Similar to many social insects of the Human Realm, a certain number of workers in every colony (around 20%, though number can vary from one region to another) will be born as "soldiers". Visually, they can hardly be distinguished from the regular workers (although they tend to have slightly larger claws, broader shoulders and smaller pseudo-breasts), and their main difference is the presence of the special anabolic hormone that allows them the gain muscle mass in quicker and more efficient way. The metabolism of this hormone produces a specific scent that can be picked up by other quarali, thus allowing soldiers to be easily identified. Their subsequent fate will be largely determined by the region they were born in. In the nation explored by Cornelius, all soldiers were traditionally selected from the queen's brood and put into special sections at the bases of the hive-cities, were they would live and be trained in combat from the youngest age. Some other nations, on the other hand, were rumored to have more liberal systems in place, incentivizing these "natural soldiers" to join military ranks without outright forcing them to. Regular workers can obviously fight too, but are usually not allowed into "warrior caste" and only called upon in dire emergencies.

Despite their name, not all soldiers engage in warfare. They can also act as guards, law enforcers, scouts, perform in gladiator tournaments or just be employed for some particularly heavy manual labor. They are not usually allowed to take any "high class" roles, such as priestesses and nobles, although there may be some exceptions.

Soldiers can, in principle, become queens just as fine as the regular workers – but in most places, it is strictly forbidden.
