Edit December 1st, 2011 - I'm disabling comments because far too many people are taking this *way* too seriously. Also, if you look at the date, I drew this YEARS ago, when Malfoy was still a little evil bastard and not just a spineless one. So since people can't play nice, I'm shutting down comments.I need to get this off my chest. I can't stand fan fics. There are some damn talented writers out there that are wasting their time writing stories they wish that would happen to characters that already exist and are copyright someone else! The ones that get me the worst are the Harry Potter fan fics. Why? Because people take already developed characters that we all know and love, and mangle their personalities. for example: Harry and Draco. Nearly every fan fic people tell me to read (I'll skim over the odd one if someone is insistent enough), all the writers seem to think that Draco has this huge amount of respect and brotherly love for Harry that just seems to be hidden away down there. (Or they end up in bed together...) Same way everyone seems to think that secretly, Sephiroth was in love with Aeris. ......Don't make me hurt you. SO this is my own little reminder to everyone, if Draco could have the heart to kill, he would kill Harry. The seventh book has yet to say whether or not Draco will suddenly show this huge amount of admiration towards Harry, but in the meantime I am drawing it as I see it. He hates him. He does not love him, does not want to be his brother or best friend, he would gladly scream "AVADA CADAVRA!!" in Harry's direction at any time. (*cough* I only THINK I spelled that right....)
And as a side note, I never said that any of the fan fic writers are bad authors, in fact some I have come across I gladly read...I just change the characters names in my head so I don't get mad. Like....Julie Steve and Bob....

However, to address your original point, I drew this image to illustrate a point, not to say "OMGWTF Draco would like totally kill Harry and that should have happened so I'm gunna go draw it since I don't want to write it bllaaaaa"
I was choked at the amount of people who go around raping someone else's character and visually threw out my opinion of it. I am not a fan of fan art as much as I'm not a fan of fan fic. I would not have sat around my house and randomly decided to draw them in an event that didn't happen.
Hence the explanation that goes along with the illustration.

Considering when this was drawn, if you would look at the date, the type of personality he was written with would fit the drawing, so chill out.
And you're calling me a hypocrite when you came onto my page, guns a blazing and slinging insults, then say that everyone is allowed to write what they want so long as they don't do it offensively? AHAHAHA! You may want to read your own comments before you leave them to make sure you arenβt doing exactly what you are accusing someone else of.
And on the subject of "everyone has a right to do what they want" hat should not apply to something that is someone elseβs intellectual property. Fan Fic writing means you are using characters that BELONG TO SOMEONE ELSE, and writing them how you want to see them. Authors such as Anne Rice have already stated their distaste for people manipulating their characters, and asked that you only write your own stories, involving your own creations. I agree 100%. If someone were to take my characters and write out their own adventures for them, that would be incredibly insulting. Let ME write MY characters, stick to your own property.
So please, grow up and move along, and realize that the hard work that belongs to someone else is not yours to play with and βdo as you pleaseβ. That is the mentality of a teenager who believes they can, as you said, do what they want.

when there is something out there for example: HARRY POTTER
the fans are what keeps the story alive. fan fiction is just a way to keep the story alive. as long as it is all non profitable i see no problem with fans using their imagination

Meh, to each their own. If it's what you love doing then that's great, if you do it to gain popularity then not so much. That rant was a few years old from when I found (a woman who is now a well known published author) writing nothing but fanfics when she was talented enough to write her own creations.

sad but true but i guess thats why its call FAN fiction. not saying anything mean but there are awesome wroters that write about these characters where as if they just changed their story a bit like characters and such but keep their plot then they would be definite good writers. by the way your drawing looks really cool. have to admit i am a sucker for the harry/draco but again that's only a fan thing.

I agree with you, I stopped writing fanfics because I believed it blocked up my ability to become a better writer, like a nasty pimple in the way.

not really. writing fan-fics can HELP you become a better writer (to me at least) it helps you wor w/ ur imagination. that....or write your dsreams and change/extend the senarioes!

If it helps any, I kind of think of fanfics as a practice material. like, when you want to learn magic, you get a magic kit. when you want to learn to draw, you can get a drawing kit. well, the same applies for fics to me. it's like a little world and premade characters to practice with. you don't have to worry too much about it or anything, just do whatever and see what apens. and you don't have to be too awfully creative. it's all premade. lol
but that's just how I think of it.

~ It's literature which can be interpreted in a number of ways. Love/hate is plausible. So is this. Personally, Harry/Anyone-but-Draco is gross for a lot of people. That's just how it goes. We like different things. It is a nice picture, though, and Draco is my favorite character. He's severely underdeveloped and under-appreciated in canon. If JK won't explore his psyche, it's up to the fanfics.

I agree whole heartedly. No one's dissing the fan fic stories. It's just a shame to see people with so much talent waste it trying to change what they don't like in already developed and published characters. I learned that the hard way when spending years writing Star Wars Novels (Not really fanfics as every character was an original character, but still was based in a copyrighted world) and loving what I created only to realize that all that hard spent time was for nothing more than maybe putting it on the internet or something. Since then, I put everything in my own, original world. I would reccomend this to all the talented fanfic writers out there. Use your awesome talents for something you can be not only proud with, but possibly publish someday.

damn you're really pissed off about fanfics...yet HBP shows that Malfoy wouldn't kill Dumbledore because he couldn't. And I guess the DH shows that the Malfoy's DO have a heart...they're just a bunch of Slytherins is all.

I like reading fanfic's as well, but I stop reading when they go a little too far. I write my own personal fanfic's for my friends amusement but they say I should share it with people on the internet. I don't post all of it to avoid flamers etc but all the same, I know where you're coming from with this Draco and Harry thing, Draco hates harry's guts.
