Description A night view of Piazzetta Reale, the court of the Royal Palace, in Turin.

On the left, the church of San Lorenzo (see also Turin - 5 ). The white palace is the Royal Palace, where Savoia Kings used to live.
The building on the right hosts the Royal Armory Museum.

In the middle of the square, there is Jan Vercruysse's "Fontane Luminose" (Luminous Fountains), part of the installations known as Luci d'Artista: it consists of five narrow pools (whose length varies between 9 and 48 meters) containing water, with submerged red lamps. A special theatrical equipment produces fog, which gets colored by the lamps.

For more images of the Luci d'Artista installations, please see Light and the city and Cappuccini 1 .

For a different perspective of the Royal Palace, see Turin - 11 .

This is a panorama HDR image made of 9 pics: 3 shots, each taken (with a tripod) in 3 different exposures.

Full view recommended. Thanks for viewing.

Fifteenth image in my "Turin " series. Please see the complete series .

Great shot !

Really makes me wish I'd had a better camera when I was in Turin. Such a beautiful city.

This shot brought back memories of leaning on the Fontane Luminose talking my own pics

thanks so much, t
the green squares are boxes, that contain one very small tree each. can you see the trees?

thatIam In reply to barninga [2008-02-17 17:20:48 +0000 UTC]

ah ... but no i can't really see them ... they just look like little x's inside green boxes

look carefully: a little above each box, you should see a small dark-green round spot. they are the bushes of the trees. you can also see their shadows on the wall, between the boxes.

thanks, i'm happy you enjoyed it
actually i had to amend some ghosts. notably, the girl taking pics (you can see the flash firing) was probably searching for a good position to shoot, and appeared three or four times in the images. at first, i kept the ghosts, because the looked like tracing a path, and it was somehow interesting. then i decided to make them disappear.

i took three images, shooting each of them three times with different exposures to support hdr. so, nine images are involved.
