Description Detail of a wooden door of the Cavallerizza Reale, in Turin.
The Cavallerizza Reale is the palace where Savoia royal family's horses and carriages used to be kept; its four large courts often hosted competitions and drills.
It was originally designed in 1673 by Amedeo of Castellamonte and completed later by several architects: Filippo Juvarra is the most famous of them. The building is cross-shaped and has a large octagonal hall in the crossing point. It is considered a symbol of the modern and powerful, yet simple, Savoia style.
The Cavallerizza Reale was recently recovered and restructured; at present, it hosts non-conventional theater performances.

glunac interpreted this photograph with a wonderful painting, where any detail seems coming to life.

yes, i kept the original file. however i prefer the b/w version, since the real door is uniformly brown-ish.

I can picture this door in a glossy enameled black or a brilliant red with a pewter emblem; uniformly brownish seems a bit of a disappointment. Good thing you posted it in black & white.

Thank you so much Stefano. Don't know if I will ever do it, but I had at one time had an idea to paint one door from each country & then that inspiration left me (after just 2 doors Tunisia [link] & another one that seems to be missing from my gallery?)

This would make a great representation of Italy! I have put it into my painting collection & if I ever paint this I will post it & link it to you & this photo.
