Godzilla Redesign

(Eh, I guess I'll keep posting here, might as well)

Ah, the Godzilla Redesign, truly one of the worst things you can do as a deviantart artist...ok, perhaps not quite that. In all seriousness, around 2008 to 2016 everyone and their mother was making a shitty Godzilla redesign that missed the purpose of the original. Myself included, if you scroll back far enough. Its fascinating, honestly, how so many people could make such utterly awful designs. A certain "saurian leader" comes to mind, but lets not get in to THAT can of worms right now. Its best to keep that awful time period far behind us all.

Anyway, this is a design Ive been working on, some way or another, for around 2 years. Its functionally an updated version of this design here: 001- Godzilla by BaryMiner on DeviantArt
Ever since I did that design, Ive been making modifications every now and then and this is the final product. You can still see many of the features present, just drawn in a better artstyle and with less "radical change for the sake of radical change". I tried to mostly stay faithful, but I still wanted my Godzilla to feel super animalistic and aggressive, a brawler not unlike the classic Showa goji. He's not opposed to beam spamming the shit out of you like you were some thicc thighed dopleganger with a slight change in design, but generally speaking he would rather just punch, claw, and kick you to death. Super fun with kids too!

I'm really proud of this. I did a lot of referencing with artists in this kaiju community that I really enjoy, like Matt Frank, Art Adams, etc. One day I hope to be as well known as them, but of course Im a ways away from that. Anyway, I hope anyone who sees this enjoys. Let me know your thoughts on the design.
