I was super bored at work so I ended up drawing this guy.. I liked him so much I decided to color him. Hope you guys like him too! I figured it's about time I added something that isn't a scrap. Tell me what'cha think.Related content

Huzzah! I see you're getting less nervous about those darker shadows? I can tell, because the depth in this picture is very outstanding. I would almost describe this picture as Disney-esque, because it reminds me a bit of Atlantis, but it shines with your own personal style. And it shines with highlights too, lol! I think this is the first time I've seen you use such brighthighlights...dunno if you've used them with earlier pics, but I've been too busy for DA as of late so I might've missed them...u_u ^_^ Anyway they look fantastic here, in exactly the right spots to create interest.
Anyway, love the pink and brown color scheme here, and the peaches are nice as well. I think the little pink flaps at his sides could have been darkened with a shadow, because they are behind him, I think, judging by the lineart. It takes a strong man to admit his feelings...and an even stronger man to wear pink!!

I guess I'm going to have to keep doing what I was doing on this one.. I think the last one I CGed before this one was the one with the girl and the shawl and whatnot, and yeah, I do admit I was pretty shy with my shading and highlights in comparison to this one.. Coloring is a slow learning process.. *lol* Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad you like it.

You know, your style and coloring reminds me a lot of ~depleti 's stuff...just the whole flow of your lines and the cute lineart. Yours is a bit more stylized in general though, and Depleti tends to squash her noses more. lol.

I think this looks great, Erin.
I really like the lines in his face, they express age and experiance, yet his face still looks young and strong. Makes me think of Captain Mifune from Matrix Revolutions, except more soft spoken.
I like the warmer tones you used for his clothing as well, they make his outfit seem very natural and light.

Hey that's kinda unique, I don't remember seeing a dreadllock elf before. I like his elegant, thearical/thespian sort of pose, nice contrast with the rough dreadlocks! His face is quite appealing. Nice bushy eyebrows, and cool costume design. I liked how you masked out the dreadlocks. Plus, you pulled off the skirt thing pretty well ... it's hard to get guys to look manly in a skirt-thing, but you pulled it off without me thinking 'skirt' until i thought about it a second time. He's more of a shaman/bard/spiritual person instead of a warrior. Plus, this drawing looks like you've done heaps of life-drawing, and that you can pull off anatomy without much effort. I love the way your still characters always seem to move, and this one is particularly elegant. The colors go well together, too.

UAU!! Thank you so much for such an extensive critique! You pretty much pointed out everything I like about this piece.. I really wanted to make him look more elegant and almost regal, like he has a place of power or a position of high honor and respect within his tribe. I'm glad so many people can see that with this character.. I can never see an elf as a warrior.. They're too intelligent and wise to have to revert to brute force.. At least in my mind anyways..

I like the solid black hair a lot! When I first looked at it, I tought that it looked a little bit strange with the more realistic shading of the character but the more I look at it, the more I like it! I like the outfit too. He looks like an elder or some sort of old priest.

I love the pose and the coloring of the body and clothes. The only thing I wish is that the hair had some more color variation as it looks a little flat in comparison. However, I couldn't get it to full view so maybe it doesn't look that way when bigger. Nice though

This is excellent! I particularly like that, even being an elf, he is dark-skinned. Most people don't picture elves that way, rather seeing them really really pale and ethereal, this is a really original twist on the idea of "elf". I think I shall +fav this... his outfit also rocks.

Thank yah! This is one of those pieces that kind of just created itself.. I drew the head and gave him an elf ear.. And as I started developing the details in the face he started to get more of an african look to him, so I just went with it and I really like how it turned out. .
