I was super bored at work so I ended up drawing this guy.. I liked him so much I decided to color him. Hope you guys like him too! I figured it's about time I added something that isn't a scrap. Tell me what'cha think.Related content

I love the shading on his face, and the outfit is kick ass!
Just a couple of things that are ikky with me. Um... is it just me, or do his legs and waist look short? (ran out of paper prehaps?) I personally think that his hair could have used some shading and highlights too prehaps. Unless you were using it as the BG too?
On another note, I managed to look at your hyena animation at Lugiagirlz house. Needless to say, I was impressed! I loved the fact that you managed to make the hyena constantly move most of the time. Almost everyone in my animation class does way too many still frames, and when they move they look anime-ish.... it's sad kinda. You're use of anticipation (in his face and hands especially) highly overexaggerates his movements to give it that llittle something extra. And then, of course, who can't forget the rolling on floor laughing!
I'll have some more of my animations up and running as soon as I'm done my semester break this week.

Yep, same here. Everyone seems to adore my stuff, even the teacher is ecstatic. It's a little annoying though... especially if you have a couple of students and a teacher breathing down your neck while you're trying to draw or capture the animation. It's like *Spaz* DON"T INVADE MY PERSONAL ART BUBBLE! *emperors new groove pose* No touchy!

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, I did run out of paper.. Didn't do any planning for this guy, but I still liked the drawing enough to give it the full color gig.. I was trying to make the dreads kind of a flat color.. Not sure why.. *shruggs*
And thanks for the comment on my hyena animation.. Yeah, I don't enjoy hanging on a still for too long. I'm a total believer in the "suspension of disbelief" thing so that really doesn't lend me much room to cut corners.. But in the end people like my stuff so I'm happy. ^_^

i really like the design and the skin coloring looks awesome.
i think it would look good if you had some of the dread locks pass in front of him, they seem a little too flat.

I think '+fav', that's what I think! The anatomy's super-strong in this one, the flow of movement is right on. The dreadlocks really help bring attention to the character as well as add to the movement. I love the colors you've chosen-- even the white background contrasts nicely! And I *really* like the outfit-- for me, those are the hardest parts, and yet this outfit is highly creative, and really almost gives you a feel for the culture lying beyond the character. Way awesome! *poke-poke* Post more non-scraps!

Its interesting really, never seen an elf quite done like that. Almost makes me think of the Elf from Jamaica or something though

Yeah.. I had absolutely no planning for this piece, and normally when there's no planning, it gets cut off.. *lol* I think it's due to the fact that I always start by drawing the head, and I have a tendency of putting it near the center of the page.. *lol* Thanks for the kind words! ^_^

The hair makes for a really interesting background as well as a cool aspect of the character.

Great personality in this drawing. I LOVE those stylised dredlocks. ^_^
Only thing I notice is that his left armpit (our right) seems to bulge out too much rather than being concave.
